lauren8479
I am a newbie to candle making and have not made a gel candle yet. I got some FO's that say they are gel safe fom candlecocoon.com. Does that mean they really are or do I have to test them anyway?
CathyinME
You should test them yourself just to be sure! i don't get them from there but some from some other places say they are gel safe but eventually they end up getting cloudy. Best to do your own tests.
jazzbo848
do you know how to test for gel safe fo's?cheryl
topofmurrayhill
I have tested CC oils that were indicated gel safe and came to a different conclusion. I also found the reverse with some of those oils. Definitely test them yourself. There's a useful link on the site for the MSDS so you can look up the flash point as well.
lauren8479
Yes I know how to test. 3 parts FO to 1 part mineral oil. Check for cloudiness. Then add 8 parts mineral oil to equal 9 parts mineral oil to 3 parts FO. Check for cloudiness. I have some orange clove oil that claims it's gel safe. But I will definately test. Thank y'all for your advice!
