CandleCouture
Anyone else having any problems? These wicks seem to produce a TON of black smoke and soot. Anyone else having these problems?
Shannon WY
I've recently begun testing these and haven't had that problem. Are you using these in soy? Maybe you could try wicking down.
CandleCouture
If I wick down, I don't get the melt pool that is needed. And, yeah, I"m using Greenleaf's 70/30 blend.
AngelaVA
I didn't have that problem when I tested these wicks in J50, as long as I didn't marathon burn.
Gypsyjen
Too much FO in a candle will also produce black smoke & soot. Have you tried other types of wicks? If you have the same problem with other wicks, you might want to cut down on the FO%.
CandleCouture
That's not it either. I used 1oz pp with this particular oil.
Jane42
We had that problem when we were testing our 12 oz apoth, 4630 (Harmony) double wicking with the 700's. We had to cut the wicks way down (1/4") or they would be smoking and dancing all over the place. After the second or third burn, again cutting the wicks way down, they seemed to burn nicely. The problem is, tho, I just know the customers are not going to cut them way down, so we stopped testing with them...for now. We are suppose to have 600's on the way (more geared toward the para rather than soy).Have they continued to cause soot after the second and third burns?
