wildguy
I am overdipping taper candles (making them grubby tapers), Is there anything I can do to help with the adhesion between the two layers? What would be a good temp? Thanks
pdevine
What type of wax are you using to overdip? Donita suggested using 4045EP w/beeswax added to it for hurricanes and it adhears wonderfully. HTH Portia
Donita
It all depends on what look you are going for. If you want it to look just like the taper, then use the same wax and dip at about 165 degrees. If you want a sheer shiny coat then the 4045 EP might work at a higher temp. It is used for cut and carve candles where adhesion is necessary. You will have to do one and see what works for you. There is information in the archives about dipping tapers. Donita
joym
It helps to warm the taper you are dipping before overdipping. Usually, I put it in wax at about 150-155* for a count of 30.
