snow
Is that little mushroom always there because the wick is too big? I made a candle that burns nice and smells great, I used 51-32-18Z in astorlite J50, for a container. And I have a little mushroom after it burns a while. What does 51-32-18Z mean? It's medium 6", for 3-4" containers, right?...Will I ever get this right? LMAO
jipow
51-32-18Z is a zinc core wick and yes, you always get a mushroom with zinc wicks.Usually the worse is on the 1st burn.
MaryinCary
I suggest you read through this site. Loads of info on all types of wicks and their applications. HTHhttp://www.braidway.com/Wick%20Page/New%20Rate%20Charts.htm
AngelaVA
Mushrooms are normal with zinc wicks. Just trim before you burn it again the next time.
trisha
I use the exact same wax and wick combo in 8oz jelly jars. There is always mushrooming with the first burn. Other fo's burn a little better with only one trim and then they never mushroom again?I can't figure it out so I just deal with it because so far this hasbeen the best combo for me:rolleyes2 I have read that all wicks will either mushroom or smoke so just usewhat works best or makes you happy so you don't spend a fortunelike I did
Terrie
Yep, zincs and mushrooms basically go hand in hand. They are more of an eyesore than anything else, IMO. Kinda like wetspots.
