MaryinCary
I think the old "trial & error" will come into play here. What is considered "tried and true" for one may be totally different to another. I did a search for "massage oil" and came up with dozens of threads. Here are a few with massage oils within those results. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=356&highlight=%22massage+oil%22http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14323&highlight=%22massage+oil%22http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=356&highlight=%22massage+oil%22http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=968&highlight=%22massage+oil%
Carol M
Lotioncrafters used to have a recipe for non-greasy massage oil on their site.
Crafty1_AJ
I just put a few drops of eo into a small amount of sweet almond oil. Voila! Instant massage oil. LOL Sorry I couldn't be more technical with amounts and such, but that's the way I do it. HTH!
Gene
FCO is very popular because it is non-staining
Saltbox Pantry
Most massage oils use carrier oils like Grapeseed oil and Wheatgerm. I also suggest a course in aromatherapy if he plans on mixing his own blends. There are some very dangerous oils out there and should not be handle by just anybody.SP

Saltbox Pantry
what about baby oil with FO added to it... thats what I like to use... its super moisturizing and not too oilly when its sunk in... just a thoughtAre you talking about commercial Baby Oil? If it's not a food grade oil then I wouldn't use it for massage purpose's. Most baby oil's are petroleum/mineral oils which is not good for your skin.SP
Livelovebath
hummm. good to know thanks! I just assumed that baby oil would be fine to use because you can use it on a baby lol... I havent had a problem with it... and Ive used it for a long time... what will it do to the skin?
Saltbox Pantry
It clogs your pores. Its actually drying to the skin. I found a little blurb when I was searching on scrubs and one had called for mineral oil. I showed this recipe to a friend of mine who has been soaping and making B&B for many years....she informed about the mineral oil and I was almost certain that commercial baby oil had mineral oil in it.Hopefully I can post it without problems. http://www.bodymindbreath.com/content/BabyOilHope this helps,SP
Livelovebath
Well you learn something new everyday! thanks... the hospital actually gave me baby oil to use on my baby (i didnt, i used it on myself lol) so I just assumed it was safe! I have made other massage oils out of food grade oils but I have yet to use grape seed...where would I find that? can I get it at a store or would I have to order it? Saltbox Pantry
I know.....its funny the things you think are good are actually bad.You can get Grapeseed oil form any soap supplier. I think Canwax carries some soap supplies. If I remember in an earlier post someone in Richmond Hill who supplies, if not then New Directions (Brampton) is the place! Awesome stuff. Already made up massage oils lotions and potions.....LOLGlad to be of help,SP
