snow
Hi, do you people use J-50 for tarts also? Sometimes when I pour candles and have some wax left over I use it for tarts. Is this ok to do? Learning so much here...love it!
karenmimi
I have used J50 before for tarts but added votive wax in with it.
Cissy
Using J50 alone for tarts is ok, they do melt fast in burner, but they are so soft that your packaging will be smudged. I had a slab of 1343 laying around that I wasn't using, so I mixed 50/50 with J50 for my tarts and it works great, doesn't smudge or smear the shrink wrap tubing when I insert tart. A votive wax combo will work also.
AngelaVA
I've done the same thing, but I only use those tarts for myself. They are too soft for me to sell, but I do keep them and burn them at home or give them to my neighbor. Also, you can get a JJ and just layer your extra wax in the jar. It makes for an interesting candle when you finish and something fun to burn at home.
Lauchie
I use the same wax I just made a batch of candles & pour them into the molds to make the tarts. That way I don't waste any wax & I have the matching tarts to go with the candles. It can smudge the wrap if it gets warm but not that big of deal. My customers still like them, so it works all the way around.
