mystical_angel1219
Sweetgrass BraidsHierochlöe odorataBeautiful sweetgrass braids are from Canada. These are collected by First Nations families each year ("First Nations" is the Canadian equivalent of "Native American"). Sweetgrass is considered sacred by many peoples of North America. The smoke of burning sweetgrass is said to purify and clear objects, places, and people. Often found in medicine bundles and sometimes packed with dance clothes to keep them fresh. Select braids average about 24 inches, but some can be over 30 and some may be a bit shorter. Select extra-long braids are about 32-38 inches long. As all are hand-picked and braided, there is always variation.
Gypsyjen
Sweetgrass has a very unique fragrance. I use the FO from Sweetcakes in my soap.
SoapInTheCity
Ya that must be it. He did say something about long braids of 'something' but I hadn't a clue what he was talking about!Well - I do live in Canada, so if it's from here, that makes sense. Thanks Girls! :highfive:
RobinInOR
And it does *not* smell like grass. I've found suppliers that have sold sweetgrass and it smells like a lawn. It has more of a dry, anise-y scent.
