Bath bombs and dyes

Recommended Posts

2/3 of an ounce is EIGHT DOLLARS?!?! Either those calculations are WAY off, or you guys are using liquid gold in your formulation! :D What is your wife using in her recipe? It doesn't cost me $8 for a small batch that makes 5 4 oz. bombs. I'd rethink that recipe or do some different calculations and get back to us. :D

What exactly is costing $8, the dye you want to use in the bath bombs? Liquid or powder, what kind of dye is it?

Most liquid dyes are FD&C dyes - if they are concentrated it only takes a few drops in a batch to color. If they're diluted (like what you find in food coloring) it takes a lot more. Usually the FDC dyes I see are around $4-5/oz..
