kelli1843
For months, I have been diligently reading this board and "studying" up on candle-making. Due to time and money constraints, I haven't been able to do to much (except read and soak up info.) Wellllllllll, I casually mentioned to co-worker that I've been thinking about making candles (I'm a big crafter and co-workers know that, lol). I told her I just wished it wasn't so expensive....Next day, she proudly informs me she bought me a present and went out to my car, to find she gave me 12 slabs of wax. LOL.Apparently, she wanted to try it and never did. It's in unmarked boxes, so I have no idea as to what kind of wax it is She thinks it came from Michael's as it was a gift to her originally. So, here I sit...with 12 slabs of unknown wax........
eugenia
No, be happy It's probably straight paraffin, might be Yaley, pillar and votive wax. Get some molds, wick, color and a sampler pack and get started. Whatever you do, don't buy the molds at a craft store. You'll pay an arm and a leg. You can check the classifieds right here for some good deals.Straight paraffin is my wax of choice. Order some vybar and stearic too so you can play. They will help you to get different effects. This could be the nudge you've been waiting for. Lucky you! e

Pam W
No, be happy It's probably straight paraffin, might be Yaley, pillar and votive wax. Ditto..sounds like Yaley's Premium. That's what I've been using for the past year and no complaints. I checked w/Yaley customer service to see what if any additives were included. They told me there were none - it is plain 'ole paraffin. I've made all different styles of pillars & votives with it, (shinny, rustic, mottles, chunk, whipped) - didn't work well for containers tho. You can get a nice creamy look by adding vybar, mottles well w/stearic, nice rustic and/or frosting if poured into cool mold at aprox 150*. You're in for a lot of fun Peak's had molds on sale really cheap a few days ago - I ordered several. (Bought some of my original molds at craft store and the bottom line was painful).
