candlewoman
Hi all, I am wanting to try making wax tarts. Can anyone help me out with info on the best type of wax to use and what works best for molds and so on. I would appreciate any help! Thanks! mking
I use 1343 mixed with j 223. Even a pillar wax will work.
Dustpuuppy
I use 1343 mixed with j 223. Even a pillar wax will work.I did some with pillar wax. The hot throw wasn't all that. I think the higher melt point kept the FO from being fully released. May be wrong, but that's what it seemed like. My hot throw from the pillars of the same wax/FO was great... just not the tarts from the same batch of wax.
Scented
Yeah but a slight bit of container wax added to regular ol' paraffin does wonders, because it helps melt quicker to release the scent sooner.
tonyalkay
I have read where a few people use their same container wax and add pillar/votive wax to it to harden it up some. I have made some with J223 and I believe it was the IGI 4614A (was called Dussek2275 back when I used it). It worked well but I don't sell to the public. Only make for friends and family. SatinDucky
Tarts are discussed very frequently here. If you do a search, I'm sure you'll find all the info you need. From wax, wax blends, molds, to pour temps and whaich kinds of tart burners work best.
cindym
I use 75 % votive or pillar wax and 25 % 4786 container wax.
