Parafin wax, and we don’t measure the temp we just wait till it is all melted. We do melt it in a bowl over boiling water.

Layering paraffin waxes can be temp sensitive. Usually a layer is poured about 10 degrees F hotter than the manufacturer recommended pour temp of the specific wax. This helps ensure a good bond between layers and should minimize imperfections.
