Botanical candles

Recommended Posts

Well .... I wouldn't go tossing crap on top of a candle regardless of how beautiful dried crap looks.

But if you wanted to not do it in a glass, there's a possibility of making something potentially safer called hurricanes or filled hurricanes actually. You make the hurricane shell with a higher melt point wax than what you're going to pour inside it or fill it with and you add your botanicals in there and figure out how to keep them from floating around and making air pockets. Then when dry you can either take a wicked core candle and insert it into the hurricane and pour a lower melt point wax around it or you can drill a hole through the shell, wick it and fill it with wax. The idea though is that the wick isn't big enough to come to the outer shell, but provide enough light to illuminate it ... or you can make the shell with botanicals, stick like a clipped low watt bulb in there and call it good after you drill a hole for it. So it's possible to do it other ways than dumping crap on top.
