rusticwax
How do you know how much FO to put in a candle? If I use an 8 oz tin, how much FO would I use, on average? Also, how do you measure the FO? Thanks and the site is a godsend for people new to this great hobby/business.
Vicky_CO
General rule is you start with 6% up go up or down depending on the FO. Testing how much FO to use is part of candle making. If the tin actually hold 8 oz (most container do not hold what the manufacture says it holds) you would use 1/2 oz. All your measurement should be by weight. You can get a postal scale at Walmart. You just want to make sure your scale is accurate to tenths of an ounce.
rjdaines
I work in grams because I find it easier. For an 8 oz tin I am using 142 grams of wax and adding 11 grams of FO which works out to 7.2%Always work with weight, not volume.
