Michdj
Was wondering on bubble bars - that are anhydrous - if I add a water-based colorant (like Celestial Colors) to it, will that start the fizzing process? And will it require a preservative because I've added water to the mix?I've looked at LaBomb colors but they are SO expensive. I guess those or micas/pigments might be the better way to go. Any advice pretty please?
TallTayl
Water based colors 'can' start the reaction. Used sparingly, and added slowly to the mix while fluffing with a whisk or kitchenaid slows the reaction enough to be manageable. No requirement for preservative for water based colorants in this application.Micas look pretty in the product on the shelf, but leave ugly flotsam and ring around the tub. Invest the money on the right ingredients from the start and save yourself money in the long run. The cost per unit will be reasonable, and your product will be better. Michdj
Would you suggest the La Bomb colors then? Or is there something else I'm not seeing? I was looking at FD&C powders from FNWL and the pigments and oxides from WSP. Any suggestions?
TallTayl
Some pigments get a rotten egg smell in salts and bath bombs. I would look at those specifically recommended for bath bombs from brambleberry or WSP. I forget what i have..... Not near the lab to look right now.
