Cutting wicks

This may be a crazy question but I was wondering if I want to make a votive can I use a 6" wick and cut it down to fit? Can this also be done for a floating candle?

Save the cut piece of wick, get your self some wick tabs and a crimper (Hobby Lobby) and turn that cut piece into a new, usable wick. Saves money in the long run.

Great and economical idea While I have not messed with votives...I plan to in the future and this is quite the cost saver

Saves a ton of money! With a 6" wick about 80% of the time I can do three more candles with the left over wick.
