  1. Just curious what everyone considers to be the fragrance trends this fall/winter? Some research I did suggests berries and natural fragrances will still carryover from summer and baking scents like chocolate and creme brulee's will be a hit. Fragrance is such a personal choice I don't know what to carry!!!
  2. Holly, i am using EL pure soy wax - forgot to add!! I've had luck in other jars with the htp's and 60-44 so i am hoping to continue with these. the 60-44 wasn't hot enough - didn't produce full melt pool. I am pouring today using htps - so will post my results.
  3. Thanks mizbizzyb - i will post my results! I'd rather have a single wick so i'm hoping this will work.
  4. Hello - just wondering if anyone out there has wicked a 12oz Madison (straight jar) with about a 3" opening. I'm pouring today so I would love some feedback. Thanks
  5. Hi! I have been searching for info on wicking a 12oz Madison jar but haven't found anything. Does anyone use the 12oz madison jar & if so what are you wicking with. I've tried the 60-44-18 cotton but it doesn't make complete melt pool. I am considering the htp 105 and htp 1212. Any suggestions or experiences is appreciated!
  6. Another take on the EIN - as you stated, if you plan to switch to an LLC in the future you will want that EIN - it is the equivalent to a business as a social security number is to an individual. With an LLC you want everything seperate so you won't want to use your social security number. My accountant had one sheet I had to sign to apply for the EIN. Not much work on my end. hope this helps ya
  7. RobinInOR - Thank you, I will check out that website.
  8. Hello, I am still testing in the bath salt arena and I have a question. Instead of mixing the salts and EO together, I just add some drops of undiluted EO and a handful of salts to my baths. My question is how many drops of undiluted EO is considered safe doing it this way. (I have used 10 to start with then went to 20 drops - I have a large garden tub - and no horrific side effects yet ). I can't seem to find information anywhere as to what a maximum amount of drops to use is - other than some recipes that call for 5 - 10 drops. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
  9. I just read the previous post on Aroma Haven oils and now I have some MORE FO to try!!! Does anyone have any opinions on the following: Frosted Sugar Cookies Sugar Cookie Longwyc Formula Pumpkin Pie Spice Birthday Cake (SNC) Thanks!
  10. ditto NG Lily of the Valley - Very clean floral - love it!
  11. I am testing Rosemary Mint a B-n-L from BCN and just wanted to post how awesome it is. At first, smelling the cold throw I didn't like it and thought I wouldn't even bother testing it. I'm glad I did - it is such a great scent - I'm gonna use it in my spa line.
  12. thanks for the replies - my brain is on overload from researching!! I am getting ahead of myself too - I need to make a couple of the recipes from here and try them out myself for awhile first. I do have a book on aromatherapy and it is sooo helpful!
  13. Hello, I'm jumping the fence from candlemaking..... I am interested in making bath salts and milk bath (to start for myself and if it works well to possibly sell). I would like to use essential oils to keep the product "natural". But I haven't worked with eo before and am looking for some pointers. I don't really even know what to ask at this point. I guess maybe how do I start - buy a couple pounds of salt and a few sample size essential oils and get blending? I've researched the board and found some recipes to start with. I am wondering, is there an expiration on essential oils once they are mixed in with the bath salts or milk bath? AND is there a curing time once you've blended your ingredients (can you tell I'm a candlemaker) Ok, last one...do you find there is a large market for bath salts and milk bath? I appreciate ya'lls expertise! Sandy
  14. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I will continue to test until I come up with something. I have already found good replacements for 5 of her FO. Now I am just needing Sugar Cookie, Birthday Cake, and Spiced Pear. Back to the drawing board - thanks!
  15. I have been wondering what to do with this issue for awhile now and thought who better to help me out than the board! One of my suppliers has "disappeared", gone out of business, skipped to Mexico or something! Her website is still up but no one is receiving any orders, she's not returning e-mails or phone calls. Several people even have pending lawsuits against her. This has been going on for several months. I buy my sugar cookie from her and it's my 3rd best seller. I have been testing like crazy to find a replacement and nothing even comes close. (I've found replacements for everything else). Do I settle for a fo that smells different and just note it as a new formula? Or do I just discontinue it and hope that my other fragrances will pick up the slack in sales? What would you do?:undecided
  16. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what the big deal is in replying. What is the difference in anyone helping each out on this board? When someone asks, who has the best Cranberry fragrance? Most don't think twice about answering. By answering, I would just point her in the direction of searching for message boards/forumns for candlemakers and tell her there are so many candle suppliers it's best to just search and review them in keeping to her own specifications. I wouldn't tell her how I MAKE candles - that's a bit much. Just my two cents for what it's worth!
  17. Jane42 - I use EL soy wax container blend and 3 fragrances from CandS that work great for me are: Cucumber Melon Clean Cotton Type Sex on the Beach good luck!
  18. I have heard good things about the Aloe - I can't wait to try it!
  19. Thank you for the info - I took the plunge - I told myself this year I am NOT getting addicted to samples - but oh well I'll start next week.... Here's what I got.. Autumn Lodge French Vanilla Type Giinseng & Ginger Type Home Sweet Home Type Lavender & Herb Plumeria Sugar Cookie Type Orange Vanilla Type Spiced Pear Type Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Buttercream Aloe Vera I hope they work!
  20. Thanks Shannon WY! I'll check them out...... Anyone else?!?!?!? Please....my original supplier is going out of business and I LOVE this scent
  21. Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find it in any searches. I am looking for a Yankee Type Spiced Pear FO - anyone use one of know of who has a dupe? Thanks!
  22. DUH! NOT and NON - got them confused
  23. Ok, now I am getting confused. It was my understanding that if an organization is tax exempt then you do not charge them sales tax. And You, the seller does not pay sales tax because the transaction is for a tax exempt consumer. Is this not correct?
  24. I am certainly not a pro and I don't know if this is what you are looking for but this is what I do for my special "discounts". I sell 5 mason jars at a discount (for this example let's use $1.00 off each jar if purchase 5 or more jars). I set up a Discount item that relates to a field I use to keep track of all discounts - you can also do separate ones for different types of discounts. Then on the invoice if the customer orders 5 mason jars I also add the Discount item on the invoice and enter the amount - in this case $5.00. So the reqular price still shows on the invoice and the customer sees what type of discount they receive - also you can go to this field/account and see what discounts were give. Hope that helps!
