  1. They make me upset too. I order the air freshener blanks from them and just ordered some bears. But they take forever to invoice me since I pay with Paypal. I ordered the same time as CS and NG and I just got my NG order. I'm still waiting on an invoice

  2. I didn't read all the posts - but a year ago I was a total newb and the chandlers here seem like they are attacking you. It upset me enough to get better! I don't make candles - I tried and failed, not my thing. I make wax melts and stick to other home fragrance items that dosn't require a wick. I never even seen that wax before and dosn't look like a professional wax to use if you intend to sell. It takes A LOT of testing and even when you think you got it down you will still make mistakes. Once you get the saftey down, get others to test it for you and have them fill out a questionnaire.

As for your candle - you have way too much FO in it. It looks so wet on top like its halfway set. A good wax will tell you how much FO to put in it.

  3. Masculine scents *head smack* not sure why I didn't even think of things like that and cologne. Thanks so much for the direction. If anyone else has suggestions please let me know!

I hate it, for now I have to limit myself to one or two stores because of very limited funds. But I found these three on NG. If anyone has experience with doing these in soy wax, let me know!

Cracklin Birch (since that was suggested)

    The Perfect Man

    The Fresh Outdoors

  4. I am trying to get my feet off the ground with my business and thought about doing a superbowl promotion. I was going to get the little candy molds and make football and helmet shape tarts. I don't dye mine usually, but in this case I will with the super bowl teams colors. Now the tricky part.....what type of scents?

I thought grass, leather, a clean linen/cotton and I even thought about doing half and half like raspberry and vanilla for a red/white team. I am just trying to think of a neutral scent!

  5. I recently gave a friend a plug in warmer and some of my melts. She's used Scentsy, told me they last about 6 hours- I told her mine have been lasting 2-3 days and her jaw dropped, and she looked at me like I had 2 heads! I have not tried scentsy yet, but tempted to buy some just to compare (part of R & D)

I get that response too. The beauty of handmade!

  6. I aim to beat out Scentsy. It is hard to convert some people because they are Scentsy loyal. But once they try my stuff they see that mine last longer and cheaper. I have tried Scentsy personally and hated it. It smelt like burnt oil and didn't have a good throw. What got me hooked on melts was a local company that made soy wax melts. That's what started my passion!

  7. No trouble! I think this was a legit question that will help a lot of others. If you are physically selling in a state you need to register for a sales/resale tax ID in each state ... and report the sales in that state to their tax dept.

It's VERY important that you be sure to keep up with the reporting requirements and report $0 if you had no sales. If you fail to report a $0 they can assume that you failed to report which could lead to them assessing a tax on estimated sales and penalty. It's easy to turn in your tax ID if your circumstances change and you have no plans on selling in the state for a year.

Would i have to claim the sales if they are online sales or just physically in that state?

  8. Thanks, I think I won't go with her because she didn't really seem to know answers to my questions or what she was talking about. I asked her what percentage she takes and she said she dosn't take a percentage. I gave her my retail price, but said she needs to see it first. She also said "shipping would get expensive" and had tones like she really didn't want to deal with me. I'll look elsewhere, thanks!

  9. So I have another sticky question.

I'm making my shop/biz official next month. I need to register my fictitious name. I move to FL in Feb. Should I just register in FL and charge sales tax to FL residents. I have an address I can use there. Or should I file in PA for now and FL in Feb?

Can I get past the fictitious name if I add "by Tasha" after the business name?

  10. Please forgive typos, I am on iPod typing one handed and feeding baby with the other.

How do you do consignment with a shop? Here is my scenario, I am moving from PA to FL. I want to have my products available here in my town for my local buyer base. I plan to just offer wax melts and car smellies.

She said I offer her them wholesale and she takes a cut and the rest is mine. It's based on the item and price. So I am very confused and want to make it work.

    My clamshells are $4/each retail

My car smellies will be $2/each

So I'd someone can help me out, I would appreciate it!

  11. I keep reading that you can put the smelly jars jar on a candle warmer and enjoy it that way. Is that safe? I don't use alcohol in mine like some recipes call for.

I also decorate my jars and stick ribbon on there with hot glue or modge podge a paper cover on the top. Will I have to nix that incase someone uses it on a warmer?

  12. So I am making my clamshells for my next craft fair. I miscalculated and bought less FO than I needed. I find his out after making my second half of my batch when I came up short of FO.

Will it be okay for it to be solid in the pour pot, remelt and add the remaining FO?

  13. Im still debating, I decided to make smelly jellies instead for now. My wax melts are dye-less and so will my wickless candles I'm testing. I am even debating making smelly jellies dye-less but just decorate the lids. I'm not a fan of dyes, but the cupcake tarts are just so cute

  14. Agree.

If you stick with one company, you're going to miss out on some good ones from so many other places.

NG has some good ones. & some not-so-good, just like anywhere else. But their prices are excellent, imo. & the rewards don't do much for me, as I don't buy anything in massive quantities.

And I know this!! I get in a comfort zone and I just don't want to come out. But all this said I found a little more in my budget and going to try another place. I do base my reviews of suppliers from this board. So helpful!!

  15. That's another reason Blacktie lol I have to make every penny count!! NG has a decent sale on 1oz right now. Buy 10 get .50 off each one. They are sooo expensive, but I was buying something else so I thought I would try. Oh and their reward program will keep me coming back if I like their smellies!
