I'm testing the CD 16 now and have a question. The 16 does have a large flame but the glass doesn't get too hot. I'm finding that I have a mushroom on the wick at the end of the burn. I've been using 1.5 oz. of fo per pound. Should I try dropping it down to 1 oz.?

I'm going to test my crisas (from GL Candle Supply) with CD wicks (GB 415 wax). I was thinking of starting with a CD 12 but in looking at some of the data bases, I'm now confused. Some say as high as a CD 16 others as low as a CD 8. The jar measures 2.5 in diameter. Thanks.

Today I did my first outdoor show and learned the hard way about the importance of including UV inhibitor. I use 4630 wax and some that were in direct sunlight immediately faded or turned yucky brown in parts from pretty burgundy. i never realized how quickly they'd be affected . The ones hardest hit were my delicious smelling Blackberry Jam Butter Cookies Now parts of them are burgundy and parts a very ugly brownish. Is there anyway to correct this once the damage is done?

I get major wet spots with 4630. I tried heating the jars, didn't make a difference. Have slow cooled in a box, still get them, ugh!

TxGirl, what is it that you like better about the j223? I've been using the 4630 for a while now and never tried J223.

I'm looking to change to a more sleek and upscale look for my containers, most likely a tumbler. I really like the look of the frosted ones but know a lot are very thin and that's a concern. I'll be using GB 415 without dye. Has anyone used these tumblers from CS? I'd really love to find one with a cover and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I really like the idea of a lid with it, that sounds really nice. I'm not looking for colors, just a standard frosted look and a fairly thick glass. I'd love to know more about the ones you are referring to! Thanks

Has anyone tried the 8 oz. frosted tumbler from Candle Science?

I want to begin testing 415 in a frosted container. I will be going dye free and am looking for an upscale look. I've searched the threads and read and read to try and narrow my search. I thought about going with a tumbler but in what I've read it seems a lot of them are thin. Can someone suggest a frosted container with a thicker glass that they've had success with using 415? Thanks so much.

That's a good idea. I turned the pot off but didn't get rid of it, I was thinking there'd have to be another use. I was thinking maybe I'd use it to make some wickless candles.

I have two presto pots, one for my 4794 and one for my 4630. I'm about to make a bunch of testers and added my 4630 to the pot and realized I added it to the wrong one. There was about a fifth of the pot filled with the 4794 and now the rest is 4630. I don't know what I should do. Is it OK to make my testers if it isn't my formula which will be straight 4630? Thanks!

The container says to use 1% fo or eo to 128 oz. (the entire gallon container) of Body Frosting Base.

On the container they give directions that seem to involve far better math skills than I have after being a stay at home mom for a long time. I checked their website for more info and did a search here but didn't find the answer. How do I calculate the amount of fo to add to this base?

I have more info from "Miss Aretheyorganic"? She wants to know if I use essential oils in my candles. Am I correct in thinking that not all essential oils are organic? It seems she thinks that essential oils are what makes a candle organic.

I would love to give her a major smart a$$ answer! I'm so tired of people who truly have no idea of what they're talking about jumping on a bandwagon. I would love to give her a real dose of my (native New Yorker) sarcasm, but I have to bite my tongue for my husband's peace of mind. I really appreciate your response . The question came to me in an email. My husband said that "Miss Isitorganic?" is a real know it all and I should inundate her with so much info, I should make her head spin. I'm going to ask first what she's means exactly by organic and then share the beeswax, bayberry, soy process info with her. I'm for all candle waxes...that give me great scent throw.

I just moved to a new area and started selling my candles here about a month ago. A woman that works with my husband has been using a tart warmer and some tarts that she bought from me in the office. She was asked by the resident "health nut" (her term) in the office if they are "organic". I'm assuming by this she is asking if they are made from soy. She is known to be pompous and probably has no idea of what she's talking about but has caught on to some lingo somewhere and is trying to make a point. My tarts are paraffin. I choose to use paraffin (4794) because I am all about kick butt fragrance throw. In container candles I make a 70/30 soy blend, paraffin and I'm considering introducing straight soy. I'm seeing that where I am in California people are totally hooked into the whole soy is the only way to go mentality. Every candlemaker has their own preference in waxes. Mine is truly paraffin, but I feel the need to jump on the soy bandwagon to please others I've found in my experience the best fragrance throw to come from paraffin. How would you answer this woman? Thanks!

I was just browsing through Tri-State's website and see they sell J300. I thought this wax is no longer being made.

I usually buy my unscented tealights for tartwarmers from Michaels or Walmart. They are always a great deal but pretty banged up most of the time. Does anyone know of a wholesale supplier for high quality tealights with a sturdy metal cup? TIA
