  1. I also use the KY tart/pillar/votive blend. Works awesome in the clamshells, no repour, and people swear they get 15+ hours of scent per 1oz.

    I also sell in 60+ retail stores, so I am also very pickey about how they look.

    Another plus is that this comes in granular form so it is so easy to work with. We pour at 165.

    www.greatcandle.com (southern scentations) also carries this and they are in MI. I don't know who is closer to you.

  2. It was a while ago so I can't remember what our "set up " fee was, but we pay a $50 monthly fee..... I hand over bank statements, merchant account summary, invoices, reciepts, credit card statements, customer invoices, etc. and she takes care of all of it. When it's time to pay my sales tax, she lets me know and gives me all the paper work and an envelope... I just sign and write a check. With all she does I don't even use quick books....

    I think it's a deal!!

  3. Our company pours to order. Even though we do large quantities..... we have 27 scents and 8 different containers we offer.... so just to keep one of each on the shelf is 216 candles.....

    We do have the luxury of this being a full time business for me AND I have employees..... and 12 turkey fryers..... so I have 360 lbs of melted wax at my disposal when I need it...

    I guess it comes down to how many scents and how many containers, etc.

    If you are small, melting down a bit of wax in a presto really isn't all that time consuming. I know our most popular sizes and scents so I will pour extra here and there. I just hate to see $$$ sitting on a shelf.

    As for re-using containers...... we are mainly wholesale and would NEVER go there..... but I do do it for VERY close friends and family..... because it is a TOTAL PITA!! I always check the glass closely though...

    Maybe think about getting some of your frgrances in the tins wicked and offer this, ONLY if they clean them out themselves!

    Because it's not worth .50 to me to clean out ANYTHING....lol

  5. I got the same e-mail a few days ago. Immediately asked for a physical store location, tax ID, and business phone #.........

    Offered a wholesale sampler......

    Of course no reply.... which I didn't expect, because I had googled her store and gotten nothing on it....

    I don't have any of my company info associated with my candletech name for just this reason..... so it's not that she is hitting candletech, she's hitting many outlets.

    SO BEWARE.....

    BTW- I do give free samples for potential accounts, it's great business. But I throughly check them out first......

    first little blurb is a yadda yadda on uses....

    Then:

    Directions: Test a small area of fabric which is out of site before applying.. Hold bottle 8" - 12" and apply evenly until area is damp. Not recommended for leather and is safe to use around pets. Not intended to be applied directly on or to ingested by pets.

    CAUTION: Eye irritant. If product comes in contact with your eyes, flush throughly with water. (you would add, contains ethenol/flammable here if yours does, ours does not)

    USE ONLY AS INTENDED

    KEEP OUT OF REACH OF SMALL CHILDREN

  7. For those who do large wholesale orders, do you charge a rush order fee? One of our best clients needs 90 candles by the weekend, and usually we have a 2 week processing period (though we generally get all orders out in a week)

    What are others charging?

  8. Well I know that when I print off the USPS site, they don't give you a parcel post option. Paypal does though..... not sure where you are getting your postage, so that would be the key..... If you are using Stamps.com or something like that, I would find the Parcel Post rate... affix that amount of postage to the package and that would be the way it goes. Might not hurt to write Parcel Post on it just to make sure.

    This is just a guess though, as I only ship UPS or USPS Priority on line. Anything I can't ship priority from USPS, gets taken into the actual Post Office... just to let them know what it is and cover my a$$.:)

  9. I haven't done any research but what about Colonial Candles? Or something along those lines? I don't know if there is a company using though--you would have to check it out. You could also play on the Chesapeake Bay--lots of names you could take off that.

    Well Colonial is a pretty big CO.......

  10. Any help would be appreciated....

    A couple of my wholesale customers are having the darker color candles fade and the light colored ones turning a yellowish hue. I use the recommended amount of UV in all my candles. These candles are a few months old. Some are near light and other are not and it is still happening.

    One white candle contains some vanilla,but we have tried to combat the "yellows" with UV AND whitening powder. One account put the white ones in a cabinet under the hutch and they are STILL turning yellow.

    They are discounting them and letting customers know this will not affect burn or fragrance, but , geez, sure would like to get this fixed....

    Any ideas would be appreciated. I am use my own parasoy blend, and have used UV from BCN and Peaks(using recommended amount).

    I know some fragrances will tend to do this but hoping UV would solve this.....

    Have 30+ wholesale accounts and have only heard this from 2....
