That's what I thought - yep, you're going to have to add something to it to clear that up. I mix 25% 4630 with 75% 4625 and don't have problems. hth

ETS: If my "just do melts" sounded offensive I apologize - I certainly didn't mean it that way but when I read it, yikes! Please don't take it wrong!! :embarasse

4625 is going to sink. It's a pillar blend, and when making pillars we do a second pour. But, if I remember (which I could totally be wrong) you just do melts, right? Are you trying to use it alone in a mold or clamshell?

Mine is Sugar cookie - I've yet to try one that is not only knock your socks off when poured - but still a month later.

I don't make anything soy - all paraffin - and I'm doing fine.

I want to try Bay Rum and from research here on the board it seems SGS & MW are most recommended. However, SGS doesn't seem to have it, and MW is $30 a pound - kinda steep especially since I don't get anything else from them to ship along with it. Anyone use a good Bay Rum from another supplier you can recommend? TIA

update us... maybe that wax is easier - with cinnamon I'm surprised a 36 is working, but I have zilch experience with that wax - good luck!

I don't use that wax - I use 4625 - I use the 44z with my votives. Do you have the votive in a tight fitting holder? If so, continue the burn with the 44 - I'm guessing it'll catch up...

The problem with buying some wax from a retail store to finish up a project is that you would have to start all over. As in, the retail wax is most likely not the same as the wax you've been using and therefore it is going to act differently - you would have to do your testing all over again to determine proper wick size etc.

As far as a hand mixer - I make a lot of items that require whipping wax and not found anything that is better than just using a whisk. I might use a mixer if I needed a ton whipped wax all at once, but that doesn't happen because once you get it to the perfect consistency - then it sets up too fast.

whipped wax does not have to be a container wax - I use 4625 for this as well, or a mix of 4625 & 4630 depending on the application.

Thanks Suzy - yep, I got it on the ingredients, I was going for is the scent going to fade. Good to hear it doesn't.

I use 4625 as well - I do not use Gel wax so I don't know how well they would play together - but I would think it would do better than a votive blend.

I'm new with the lip balms and know I will have to test my own to determine it's shelf life. But I wondered if any of you experienced makers of lip balm could tell me - in your experience, do they lose their scent and if so how long would you say? I'm finding that I would prefer to make larger batches, but concerned about shelf life since I'm just now adding them and don't know how quickly they will sell. Any opinion would be helpful. TIA
