I can not believe I waited so long to try this from CS! LOVE it - but not the name, and I stink at names... any suggestions?

I use 4630 too, and echo what RJ said. I was zincs in my system.

The smartest thing my DH did when building my work area was my work counters - he found some old metal 'cabinet' things on craigslist really cheap , took them apart, and used them to make my 'countertops'. Its awesome - I can spill wax, dye, anything - and it cleans up easy in no time! Other than that - shelves! and more shelves! never enough shelves!!!

Is paraffin easier to get a good scent throw? Would it be worth looking into paraffin jar candles too?

the easy answer is yes. the real answer though is success depends more on you finding a system that works for you. I could tell you mine from A to Z and you could get different results. The advise you're getting is great stuff...So, let the testing begin, take good notes on everything, and perfect your system. it's worth it in the end, so enjoy!!

I don't really know. The supplier in this case has sent me mislabeled items twice before, but I "caught" it before use. If this is a different type of butter, I cant tell... So now other bad part is I don't want to use the remaining 3 1/2 lbs of it in anything because it might really be something else and thus my product wouldn't be properly labeled.

just following up on this in case someone runs into the issue in the future and is searching for help... it was the butter. I got in the new order and made a batch and it worked perfectly again. no idea what is 'wrong' with batch that wasn't working... but at least I know what the problem was

I absolutely tested mine - you need to be sure your combination (I use sawdust + wax) and size will burn on it's own long enough to start a fire. the suggested grill or pit in a park is a good alternative

4630 & zincs work well for me

I use a blend of two waxes as well. In my system I have two presto pots - I melt the waxes in them (one in each) then I pour into pour pots and weigh. You should be measuring melted wax anyway - a pound of solid paraffin wax makes approx. 20 ounces of liquid.

(I think you can take away from this thread that the users of 4625 wax may be prone to taking out pent up frustrations through hammer to wax therapy- no passive aggressives in this bunch!)

I see SO many on Etsy/Ebay and even in stores that 'advertise' the size of the jar, not the weight of the wax... it ticks me off every time!

I don't use that wax, but you should add what diameter the jars are and what wick you are using - my first instinct is you need to wick up, but need more info.

Yikes!! I can't imagine grating it either!! I have a super thick plastic bag that I put like half a slab in, and a piece of a 2x4 that I lean one end on, and smack with hammer! Great way to work out frustrations, plus get pieces small enough to throw into presto.
