  1. Be sure and make up an "invitation sheet" for your hostess to fill out. It should have a column for guests name, address, phone number and email address. Now you will have all the information that you need to contact your guests for the party. You can also use this for a future contact list that will build your customer base.

  2. A suggestion on parties if on line or in home. Get the guests phone numbers and call them yourself and remind them of the party. This way you know the reminder calls have been done, you have made a personal contact with the guests which creates repoir and you can answer questions. I used to do lots of parties before I started my own business. Making my own reminder calls increased my business by as much as 40% and allowed me to book more parties.

  3. Last night I burned one of my candles and when I walked into the room, it was a very strong hot throw that almost knocked me out of my shoes. This morning I relit the candle in the same place, same room and found that the hot throw was much less - perjaps half as strong. My question is - - can room tempature and humidity affect the hot throw of a candle? Appreciate any feedback.

  4. I also have a large show doing up in the Fall (40,000 for a one day show) and have been concerned about amount of stock to take. I am not going by th 10% idea. I am going to figure how much I am comfortable in making at the show and make enough candles to fill that amount. I would much rather sell out than try to make 4000 candle and have a ton of candles left over. This is the first time I have been at this show so I do not have any history to go by.

  5. I have not yet got a wholesale account, but plan to start making calls next month. My plan is to to give a free candle to the store with their first order so that they can burn it in store. This will help them get the line moving. After that, they can pull from their wholesale stock to burn in store. If I figure that I am only loosing one candle at my cost, the loss is minimal and will help promote my sales and the stores sales

  6. My husband and I love the jars. (Scott does the pouring and I take care of everything else). We tend to slightly under wick for our palm containers. We like the hang on to stay as long as possible so that the beauty of the palm wax stays for a while. They wax burns completely and leaves clean glass at the end. We use a CSN 11. I have been working on our web page and it is finally up and running. Take a look if you would like. www.whispering garden.com

Attached are two pictures - one is my 12 oz Palm Wax candle and the other is my display in local antique mall. This is my first mall to be in and I am scheduled to start in another next month. I'm real excited. (By the way, thanks for the help in getting these pictures in the forum - I resized them and it worked!):yay:

  8. Pixie - I would suggest getting someone to help you. Get someone who understands that you may have some problems. My husband goes with me to shows and does ok for a while and then he disappears to the car for awhile to get away from the people. You may find that having someone with you will make it easier over a period of time. You seem very excited about making this work. Don't give up your dream - - - see if someone will join you. A lot of people just enjoy working a show or you can figure a percent that you can pay them. The more they sell - the more you will both make.
