  1. The crackle effect is probably from the stearic acid in the palm oil. It might have to do with the temperature at which you soaped. Or your palm might have separated at some point and what you used was higher in stearic than palm that is thoroughly mixed. It's an aesthetic issue primarily. The fragrance you used might also have had something to do with it.
  2. Another shout out for Elements. Fast and reasonable shipping, lots of little free samples, nice fragrances and packaging, good prices. I had to make a last minute change to an order after I submitted it electronically. They worked with me, no problem. Very nice folks.
  3. The SGS is really yummy. I bet they'd give you a price quote for a larger quantity if you asked them by email.
  4. I do CP soap, not candles. That said, I love sandalwood and have two recommendations. Adobe Soapworks Vanilla Sandalwood (if you like the combo) is gorgeous. They bought out Poozart's; it's the same one. I've used it in CP soap and B&B. I also really like WSP; I think it is better than Peak's Asian Sandalwood, more complex. I prefer a woody sandalwood over a powdery one.
  5. AHRE and Peak are both great in CP soap; Peak is a little stronger and sweeter to my nose. AHRE a little tarter and greener. But they aren't all that different. Neither morph, accelerate, or discolor.
  6. I recently CP soaped this and to my nose it had a faint pineapple scent to it. Go figure. I've heard that the ginger FOs at soapsupplies.net are really good. I think their ginger souffle is supposed to smell like a straight candied ginger. That's next on my list to try.
  7. I also have purchased the Adobe Soapworks Rose Geranium EO. It's nice and the price is right.
  8. The Conservatorie carries a lot of micas but they don't market specifically to soapers so you'd have to do some trial and error experimentation to see what works. I just bought a bunch of samples to try. I have read and seen elsewhere that shamrock green, medium blue, magic yellow, merlot, and one of the violets are CP stable.
