  1. I want to use cocoa butter and cocoa powder to color and fragrance my soap, what % does every one recomend, I have read 5 - 15 %. And does the aroma stand out and last? Thanks, Tait
  2. Does sweet almond oil give any aroma? I am looking for an EO or something to sweeten up my lavender , any suggestions? Thanks, Tait
  3. Hi, I thought I would try a little beeswax for fun, but I have read that you need to use higher temps, I prefer to work at 100 F. Will this still work, or do I need to go higher? Any thoughts? Thanks, Tait
  4. no, it doesn't zap at all, tastes like soap haha...I did use palm on this batch, and another batch, but only got this swirl on this one...? Not sure what kind of palm, purchased it from Cibaria in a 7 # container, it is partially solid and partially liquid....maybe it needs to be mixed? Thanks,
  5. Can anyone give me some advice on making beer soap! What do I need to do to prep the beer? Thanks, Tait
  6. Just wondering if anyone else has had wierd reactions with thier soap getting swirls and patterns(Chalky & cheesey textures) from blending EO's? Any feedback would be helpful.... Thanks Tait
  7. Hello! Ok so here are a couple of pics from my sliced sample bars..is that swirling "Ash" or is it a EO issue? can some one clear this up, It looks kinda cool but I would just like to be clear for future reference! Thanks, Tait
  8. I used Orange 5 fold and Spearmint EO's on this batch, when I cut my samples yesterday, the "ash" was swirled through out the whole bar....is that normal, or is it due to the EO blend?
  9. Hello! Friday made my second Batch, it was Spearmint/ Orange...But it ashed pretty bad Today I made my 3rd batch, it was sandalwood/Vanilla! tait
  10. When would you recomend buffing it? as a log or after cutting into bars? Thanks Tait
  11. Hello, This is batch # 2, I pulled these loafs from the molds after 24 hours, and they had this splotchy chalky patterns through out ... not just on the tops, kind of all over at random.. I have attached Pics. Is this the "ash" that everyone is talking about, or something else? Can I still use the soap? And what can I do to avoid this? Oils were: avacado oil, palm oil, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter EO: spearmint/ Orange NO Colorants Thanks for the help! Tait
  12. Hello! I just did my first batch on Saturday, and just cut my bars today(Thursday)...They cut pretty well, but it was still hard to keep my cuts consistant, and I was using the metal mitre box from wholesale supplies plus. I used the Krinkle cutter, but it bowed on almost every cut, so I switchd to using my 6" Drywall Knife, and it gave me more even cuts... Is it just a practice thing, that I will get better with time? Do you all recomend a good time to cut? Any thoughts? Thanks, Tait
  13. Hello! I just made my first batch of soap yesterday, a lot of fun, and easier than I thought it would be, Today I took the loafs out of their molds, and everything looks and smells great, but I have a few questions: 1. Do I need to check pH levels? Or can I just cut into bars and let it cure? And is 4 weeks average? And when is the best time to cut your soap? 2. I have "Crafters Choice" Silicon Molds, I have washed them and they still have a strong Lavender scent, does this go away, and/or will it contribute aroma to may next batch? 3. I will want to start adding some color on my next batches, any recomendations for all natural pigments or colorants, and where is a good supplier?(I'm in the midwest) Thats all for now, I'll probably have more questions later! Thanks, Tait
