has anyone found a website that can beat lonestars prices on their glass candle conatiners? if so would you please share a link. i have been searching high and low but it still seems like lonestar has the best prices on almost everything.

raven where would you suggest ordering the clamshell molds for making tarts? i would like many different designs if possible

just to make surei have this right if i wanted to use 8% fo to a pound of wax my fo should weigh ot to 36 grams?

thank you guys very much i just wasnt sure that there was not anything special when making the candles. you guys are awesome and i cant wait for my new supplies to get here so i can test some wicks.

does anyone have a link to a convertor to help aid in the measurement of fo for wax. for example how many grams would be 8% fo to the pound of wax?

ok i have left a candle burning most of the day and now that the meltpool is 3/4 of an inch deep it has a nice hot throw and can be smelt in the house. i have ordered sampler wicks from various size wicks and have decided to go with the comfort blend 4627. i have read lots on the boards and it seems the only con to this wax is its messy to work with. everthing else says its great so hopefully in a few days when it gets here i shall have some better luck

lyn thank you for your response i am almost certain as i have been reading for hours on end that i must have a wicking issue of some sort. my candles are burning evenly all the way across and i have to stand right over it to even smell the scent. i am getting a decent cold throw with that much fo but still not quite what i was lookin for. have you ever had any dealings with 4630 or 4633? the wax im using now is 4630 and im lookin at changing to 4633 but not quite sure what i need to do. i have also ordered a sample kit of every wick that would even be close to workin in my containers. i got three sizes of each zinc, lx, and htp. i have smelt home made candles that are so aromatic you just knew they were somewhere in the room even if you didnt see them and that is what i am trying to recieve. as for putting 1.5 oz to the pound that is what the wax was said to hold and it does without any fo seeping out. i guess i was just thinking the more the better. i am brand spanking new to making candles and dont mind reading i just really could use some one to point me to the links i need to read or someone who would like to go above and beyond the call of duty and hold a noobs hand on mastering this particular conatiner. i would just like to be able to make this one perfect before moving on to anything else. i am a bound and determined person and i know if i keep reading i will eventually figure it out but i really feel like the candle is kickin my butt:sad2: *edit i have ordered some new fo from ng candle science as well as peak and berts they should arrive in the next three days i hope.....i really want to get this figured out

can anyone give me the differences in these two waxes?

thanks for the input about aztec i will surely check them out. i have ordered zinc wicks and will also get the other two types mentioned. when i a testing wicks what would be the key things to look for and how will i know when i get it right? on average how long should it be before i can smell my candles very strong in the room? also any ideas on the best cold throw parafin based wax as the more reading i am doing i am seeing it seems a little more forgiving than the soy waxes. thanks again for all the help guys and gals i am finding my new hobby to be a great stress reliever and enjoyable experience ***edit....also satin ducky what do you think of aztecs fo's and which would you consider the best ones they carry?

pam i have ordered pound cake from lonestar and its the only company i have found that carries it i looked through a link of suppliers listed here untill my eyes went blurry and the only supplier i found was lonestar. i would very much like to find some other suppliers and sample some from each. do you know of anyone besides lonestar? ng,peak,candle science.cajun nobody carries it?

also adding i add fo at 175 to 180 degress and am pouring at 140 this seems to make the ct a little better but the ht suffers a little if that makes sense. i can smell the ct about 1 inch from my nose. is this about all the 4630 will do?

candy bee i am a complete beginner and do not even know how to begin to decide what i prefer to work with any advise will be greatly appreciated and i do believe these are the most active boards i have found. i am wanting to use containers that measure Height: 3.25" Base Diameter: 2.875" Widest Diameter: 2.875" Top Diameter: 2.875" Wax Capacity (to fill line): 6.2 oz Wax Capacity (Overflow): 6.9 oz i am using wick 51-32-18 i am using 1.5 oz of fo to the pound of wax and am pouring two pounds at a time. i live in memphis tn and we dont have any wax dist. in the area so i will have to pay shipping so i can order whatever is needed. i have not tried wick testing yet but have ordered a sampler pack of zinc wicks. i am really looking for a wax that the ct will be obvious at least ten inches away from your face. if anyone could give me a combo to try it would be greatly appreciated

ok im about to purchase some new supplies and would like to take a poll and see what exp. candle makers prefer. i am lookin for a container wax to use in pour candles and would like to know what you would consider the best wax for the cold throw and the hot throw. i have been using 4630 and it just does not impress me

idk what you mean by harmony wax i just ordered what was recomended by the site i bought from. i am mixing 3 oz to 2 lb of wax and have no seep at all. i have gotten a lil better cold throw with pouring at lower temps but the ht seems to have suffered.......can anyone give me thier opinion on the wax that will give me the best ct and ht that would be easy for a beginer to work with?

thank you very much leah i have been playing around all after noon and i think i have came up with where i was going wrong. i was adding my fo at 170-180 degrees and stirring for just a few minutes i decided to let my wax cool some and started pouring it at 140 degrees and it seems to have a much better ct i havent gotten a chance to check the ht but if it increased in potency as the ct did im sure to have a hit. once again thanks for everyones help as i am sure i will have lots more questions in the future. also who would you say has the best pound cake fo?

HOw much shrinkage do you get from that wax? IS a second pour required?

They are zinc core and not sure how to tell you the size I bought them from lonestar and they said rated for a three to four inch candle container
