    I have made votives for many years & I use the wick pins. I really like them, they help me in keeping my wick hole centered & makes pulling out a wick thats not working very easy to get out.

    I am sorry you got cut, yes they can be dangerous. I hope your finger feels better soon. I have used a towel before for assistance
