Amazing! Great colors. You did a great job on these. If they are scented, what scent did you make them?

Thanks for posting the link, Scented. I missed that one.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere else but I was just looking at the waxes on Peak Candle and there is a message from Alan and Nachelle saying they are discontiuing IGI and Astorlite waxes with their own waxes.

I'm in the testing stages of making electric candles. I'm using a grubby mold which has some high and low points in it and when one of the little points breaks off, it has a whitish color and looks bad. I've been using regular dye chips and liquid colors, but I'm wondering if anyone has used pigment dyes in their grubbies which keeps a consistent color if one of the points breaks off? Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

I don't know what CBA is but call the manufacturer and ask them about any changes.

I made a test electric grubby using soy pillar wax and though it looked great, it didn't old up when I tested the strength of it. I crumbled and broke in half.

I just received a shipment from Genwax this week and everything was fine. I ordered the 140 mp pastilles, they didn't seal up the bag, but luckily there wasn't wax all over the place. I also got some additives and they were in ziploc bags and marked with a sharpee. I'll let you know what I think of their wax, this will be the first time I will have tried their wax. Cross your fingers!:rolleyes2
Now I also received a shipment from Peaks today, and I was very impressed with their shipment. Every bottle was wrapped and very organized. I bought a bunch of sample fragrances and can't wait to try them. Lemon poundcake and Blueberry Muffin mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
It's good to know that they are now marking their bags. Maybe they got the hint after I talked to them a few weeks ago.

Those are beautiful!

OMG You people have just scared the crap out of me!!!!!! I store my FO's in the laundry room in a shelf above my washer and dryer - gets kinda warm in there. As I'm reading these posts about flashpoint, it suddenly dawned on me........ YIKES!!!!!!
.......off to find a new storage spot.......
Glad you saw this post before you had a mishap.

I'll never do business with this company again. Their customer service is horrible. When I received my order the slab of wax was put into the box uncovered. Now I have peanuts and other stuff stuck to the wax. I ordered ordered some other waxes and additives and non of the stuff was marked nor were there any instuctions on meltpoints, etc. I emailed them and it took them 1 1/2 weeks to get back to me. I just called them to ask another question and the girl was talking to someone else in the shop while talking to me. Ugggh.

Ah, I love this stuff! Yippee! It's coming back. :highfive:

Don't give up. I know it seems overwhelming right now but it can be done. Whomever is planning the trip isn't doing a very good job if they havent' helped with fundraisers and telling you when the money is due.
Selling cookie dough might be a good idea right now. I had people begging for it just before Thanksgiving when my daughter sold it. People love having it for their holiday baking. The good thing with it is you take the orders and collect the money when it's ordered and then it's delivered a few weeks later.
Also, make up some candles and sell them.
Forgot to add a link that might help you...http://www.fundraising.com/

I just got an order from them on Friday that I had ordered on Wednesday. I did not get an e-mail confirmation nor a shipping notice. Don't remember if I have gotten one in the past from them, since I don't order from them often. But I did get an invoice in the box, and of course the little slip of paper that tells you who pulled and packed your order.
That's very unusual for them. You might check your junk mail folder to see it the email went there.

Doneen over at BCN is currently in the stages of testing one. Maybe you should periodically check over there to see if it passed the test.

As usual, your soaps look wonderful!
I'm lovin' that adorable puppy too! Very cute.
-
Nice! I hope you will post a picture of that soap cut.

I've seen those before and really like them. I'm curious to know how they are made too!

FWIW, here was a compiled list of Peak FOs in CP : http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=bathandbody;action=display;num=1086889010
Unfortunately I don't see it on that big post with the compilation of FOs. Doesn't mean it isn't in one of the pages, though...
Thanks Sara. I've already looked there and also did other searches and didn't turn up any results.

As I've been thinking about which scent I want to make, I've leaned towards Magnolia because it's the state flower of Mississippi and Louisiana. Now I need to pick which Magnolia to chose. Someone suggested one that sounds wonderful but is quite pricey. Has anyone soaped Peak's Magnolia?
-
If you've used Peak's Magnolia FO in CP soap, can you post your results here please? Does it change color, seize, etc.? Thank you.

HA HA HA HA HA...I GOT ONE:tongue2: !!!
Yeah, yeah rub it in!

Congratulations!

I'm loving everyone's ideas. Please keep 'em coming!

My daughter ( went too) went on her 8th grade Washington, DC trip two years ago and it was the best trip we've ever been on. The history back there is unbelievable!
I sold $200 worth of candles in four hours at our church craft show. I would've probably sold more if I would've made a sign that it was for the DC trips. Some of the other fundraisers we did were a car wash, Christmas catalog sale, cookie dough sale, Krispy Kreme fundraiser (this one went very well for us, but that's because the closest Krispy Kreme to us is 3 hours away) and a big BBQ. All of the food was donated so we didn't incur any of those charges. For the Krispy Kreme fundraiser and the BBQ we sold tickets to the car dealerships and real estate offices and offered free delivery if they bought so much.
See if the local mall or Walmart will allow the kids to set up a gift wrapping booth at Christmas to wrap gifts. Then get the parents and kids to sign up to work and divide the money that was made. (Decide how this will be done and put it in writing so everyone knows how it's done.) At our fundraisers, it was rule that the child AND a parent had to participate in order for the child to get any money.
The school in my mom's area sets up a booth at the Annual Fall Festival and sells snow cones, drinks, etc. Many of these events will allow the schools to set up for free.
If I can think of more ideas, I will post.

Did you include the amount of water/milk in with the weight of your oils? I almost made the mistake the other day of only figuring the weight of the oils when I was increasing the amounts to make a larger batch. At the last minute I remembered that I didn't figure in my water weight for the total weight.
