  3. It well may be that some new members here are a little hesitant to offer any advice for fear of recrimination. Some people don't take criticism very well or feel that new people have much to offer in the way of useful information. I have an extensive background in business, marketing and design, but I don't think very many people here would be willing to listen to my advice for the simple fact that I have only been a member for a short time. Any way thats my 2 cents for what it's worth! :smiley2:
  4. I understand what your saying here...just don't assume everyone without 30000 posts here has never made a candle before or any other product! I am new to candle tech but I have been making candles and fragrances since 1998. Although it may take some trial and error it's definitely not rocket science and neither is making soap!
  5. So I'm still sketchy on this subject. I would love to carry some fragrances that appeal to the younger crowd who have to have brand names on everything. :rolleyes2 Are there any hard and fast rules about this kinda stuff? Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks, I will check that out. I'm still trying to decide if my salsa jars look too much like food containers...
  7. Yep my large is 12 oz straight. The smaller jars burn better too with less smoke and soot with the smaller wicks.
  8. These are really nice...I have decided to stick with the smaller sizes and shorter jars too. The bigger containers are expensive to ship and just becoming more impracticable these days.
  9. That may be the hardest part, finding a reliable supplier for glassware. The big manuf. have distributors who only carry selected styles and the little guys discontinue your favs just when you find what you like. I have been using the salsa jars but they are getting harder to find. Recently I have been using Fillmore containers and they have a pretty good selection of glass and lids. Would love to design my own jars, but that's not cheap!!!
  10. Are those salsa jars? I like the wide lids on those care to share or is it a trade secret? :smiley2:
  11. These are really good! Love the labels and the jars.
  12. Apperently I'm obsessed with candle glass, always on the look out for cool jars or new styles besides the traditional apothecary jars. So what's your favorite glassware?
  13. Anyone planning any new great ideas for 2011??? I'm hoping to open shop this year and to have everything ready by January. Good luck to you all and I hope everyone has a great 2011!!!
  14. I just love to create things...hope I can add some value to this awesome community!
  15. Hi, I have been in web design for about 5 yrs now and would like to give you some honest advice on your site. The single most important thing you are trying to build with your business is trust! Therefore your customers and clients need to have trust in you to handle their transaction including their credit card information and personal details. Without that trust your site (and your business) will not succeed! First of all I would lose the Bkg entirely...can it! It distracts the eye and makes the site look amateurish at best! Nothing personal, I like abstract Bkg and darker colors too, but this type of site will not produce the results your looking for! When it comes to ecommerce...white is right, there are a ton of statistics and studies to prove it. If you need some abstract elements in the design to make it into the style or imagery you need, keep it subtle and keep it to the outer edges of your Bkg. Your shopping pages should always be clear concise and to the point. Everything on this homepage is competing for attention and detracts from the purpose of this website. Remember people are creatures of habit! And you have about 3.5 sec to peek their interest before they go on to another candle shop, and there are many. If you need some more help just ask!
