  1. I've only tried a few CMS fo's and they were all great. I got the Grade B except for the Coco Mademoiselle which didn't list an A or B. As for the other company I've ordered just a few times from them and I only got one scent from them. I've not had any problems in the very few times I ordered but there are so many that have had issues with them. I second that you do a search and read up on them before you decide to do any business with them. Search under Midwest, Brighter Scents, Gelluminations, Creative Illuminations. Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head so there may be more. They've changed their name many times and constantly have sales which makes me think they are desperate for sales or something isn't up to par with the products.

The Candlemaker Store is not the same company at Midwest (aka:Brighter Scents, Gelluminations, Creative Illuminations) Although I dont use much in the way of fragrances from the CMS(mainly due to the fact there are no scent descriptions and they are hit and miss for me ..the hits have been great though) I have never had a problem with them and still order certain things such as UV inhibitor and other raw products. I just didnt want the two to get mixed up.

  2. I purchased a gross of tea lights (tin based) at least 5 yeards ago and some clear plastic ones later on. When you reach my age buying birthday presents for friends who are 1) old and 2) have everything it gets harder and harder. While the majority of my shopping is online I was channel surfing and saw that QVC or HSN was having a Beleek showcase at 3 am so I tivoed it as my gf collects Beleek...I bought her two bunnies that are tea light holders. Yippee! I had tea light makings and was all set...p.s. Her birthday was in January but she's a snowbird so we're celebrating on April 4th and the bunnies work even better. So, I finally decide to pour her Lily of the Valley green tea lights.

First all of those tin cups were disfigured and the p,astic ones didn't fit....I have a very poor sense of proportion so I "estimated" 24 tea lights would hold xx amount of wax, filled my pot so DONE get out my green dye DONE wick and wick tab 24 tea light tins DONE pour in the Hyacinth fragrance oil DONE oops...it was supposed to be lily of the valley NO BIGGIE hyacinth is a spring scent...pour the was into Dixie cups so it would be less of a mess. DONE poured 24 tea lights should be DONE however I had a bit of leftover wax..so with my " little bit of excess wax" I poured a 22 oz lantern jar, two flowerpots and still have wax in my pouring pot. So to those of you who do this on a regular basis kudos to you....now off to pour 24 lily of the valley tea lights...this could be ugly.

Oh my...your having one of my days :smiley2:

  3. Here are the scents that I like from them...

    Monkey Farts

    Butt Naked

Pepperberry Mistletoe---Men go crazy for this in my area...I call it Pine Forest

    Midnight Pomegranate

    Blueberry Clobbler

    Wild Cherry

    oh and

    Hawiian Tropics

    Creme Brulee

All are very strong. My husband loves Monkey Farts but only from Aztec...I bought some from NG once and he hated it. I didnt even tell him it was a different supplier but he noticed it was just not right.

    Item20 piece set40 piece set1.25" diameter tins in aluminum case$ 7.99 each $ 13.99 each

I made a kit using the same concept. I filled my tins with scented aroma beads. I wish i would have found thier kits earlier i would have used that instead.

  5. Sure ... www.candlesect.com. I got the basic plan (4 novice) for 12.99. Its only 9.99 a month if you pay for a year. I have not done that yet because I was very unsure when I started. So far it has worked out ok and I have learned alot in this last month. Also I wanted to add there was no set up fee. I paid for the hosting and domain and that was it. It cost under 30 bucks.

  6. Just 1 month ago I knew nothing about website or how to build one. Many of my customers wanted one because they only spend spring and summers here, so I took the plunge. I chose www.pappashop.com. Their site was sooo easy and in less than a week I had it all put together. The price was nice as well.

  7. Please don't take this as any offense....

Is that how everyone test their candles, in small bedrooms and bathrooms?

And are people burning the candle completely? I am and maybe that is why it takes me forever.

I test mine in the middle of my living room and to me a great throw would be if I can get close to my bedroom door and smell it (from the inside of my room that is). My upstairs is over 2000 sq ft. With high ceilings

Maybe I am doing it wrong?

This is just a general question not a stab at the poster.

I test mine at work(cant say exactly where I work) but where we get many unpleasant and stinky people.:laugh2: The candle stays up front and its a rather large area. I judge how far the aroma carries down a long hallway(200 yrds or longer). So I dont think your wrong. I live in a somewhat small house and if the candle does not throw throughout the entire house I dont use that fo at all.

  8. Bittercreek North has Black Raspberry Vanilla @ $15 per pound and I smells really good to me oob. I will be testing it tomorrow in my candles and melts. My soaper friend took a sample with her to make some CP soap but she will not have time to make it till sometime next week. I will let you know.

  9. Lilac throws like a beast in palm wax for me. Have a tester going right now and it is all over the house. Here are a few suggestions that moved well for me at an "accidental" house party this weekend (post about that one later). These were in soy tarts, not candles:

    - Red Velvet Cake

    - Sun, Moon & Stars

    - Blarney Stoned

    - Chocolate Covered Cherries

    - Agave Lime

Here are some popular ones in palm candles (don't know how they throw in other waxes yet)

    - Green Amber

    - Black Raspberry Vanilla

    - Blackberry Sage

    - Butt Naked (of course, LOL! Best seller for Christmas, too.)

    - Nappa Valley Harvest (NG type)

    Cheers,

    Steve

Butt Naked(NG) and Monkey Farts(Aztec) sold like crazy for me at Christmas. Reindeer Poo(NG) was a runner up. I think it's all in the name sometimes.

  10. During my testing of wood wicked candles, I have run into a slight problem that has only happened twice during all of my testing. I use high melt temp hot glue to hold down my wicks. During testing 2 out of 50 candles that I let burn completely to the bottom until they stopped, caused the glue to release and the wick to slide to the edge of the jar. This worries me even though it has only happened twice. Is there something that will withstand the temperature to keep the wick in place. I has read some use silicone or wick stickers..any thoughts?
