  1. Just cause I feel like throwing some stuff out there:

    - I use index cards to record all my candle tests, find it easy to file and find. I don't put as much info as Stella, but I do what works for me, everyone is different.

    - I have tested unscented candles, because I wanted to and I actually have people requesting unscented candles.

    - I think there is alot of unwarranted "sniping" between some members, but it makes for an interesting read sometimes...

    - yes, longtime members can get irritated about the same questions popping up all the time from newbies (I am still a relative newbie), but I have learned to just use the back arrow and not snipe

    - I know what "dialing in" means, as I bet most people do, too.

    - don't let negative comments sour you on this board, it is an excellent board and everyone here contributes useful info.

OK, so much to say, so little time. Do what works for you and hopefully the search function will get fixed.

    Cheers,

    Steve

Oh, and be happy these forums are not like the ones on Etsy, where every thread gets shut down by Admin for no reason other than they are DB's. Our moderators are wonderful people.

  2. I have the silver lids, also, but the people who have tested the jar for me seem to prefer the black lid with the simple black label. I mostly use silver on my containers, but i kinda like the black in this instance. All depends on the label. I was working on another type of label and the silver lid was best on it.

    Steve

I use the 9oz with silver lid.
  3. Hello All,

I was just invited to do an event at a local Tennis/Golf/Social Club. This place is a pretty upscale club (I can't afford the monthly dues, much less the initiation fee) that has been around for about 80 years or so. Anyway, it is a Ladies Night Out event, with local artists, etc, drinking and dining kinda thing. It is open to female members and their guests only. It runs 3 hours in the evening and costs $50 plus 15% of sales. One 6 foot table (and chair) is provided, but no table covers. I think it is an indoor and outdoor event. Anyone ever done this type of thing before? Any thoughts? I am interested, but all that work for 3 hours of selling...no definate numbers on attendies, just "many".

    Thanks,

    Steve

  4. Base looks like it may be home made pottery (appears slip molded and hand cut). Of course it may be something repurposed. The bowl looks like a small glass kitchen utensil or small serving bowl for dips or butter or some such. Just appears to be repurposed items.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  5. That candle looks like my very FIRST attempt at wicking a soy candle. Gee, it only took one or two tests to get the right wick! Guess some so-called Chandlers don't even do that! Irritating to the ones who do it right! My soapbox is sitting right next to me, but I shall leave it unused, LOL! I agree, you are probably lucky to have gotten away from that store.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  6. There is alot of "chandler speak" here, but you will pick it up as you go. There is a pretty steep learning curve in the beginning, and you never stop learning new things and picking up tips and tricks. Here is a link to the abbreviations to suppliers, if that helps any:

I spent MANY sleepless days and nights reading this forum when I first found it.

    Cheers,

    Steve
