  1. Oh yes! It's always stupid if we do it. But when the hubby's do it, it's a "mistake."
  2. Believe me I am the Google search Queen. Just thought this would be another great source of information since everyone here does this craft.
  3. Well I'm a newbie and didn't know about deodorized cocoa butter until late yesterday.:smiley2: I will definitely be buying some.
  4. I've just started making body butters and I love it! However, I am finding that cocoa butter seems to dominate the smell of everything!!!!!! I've been using shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and apricot oil. Even with adding essential oils and fragrance oil everything smells like cocoa butter with a hint of fragrance!!!! :smiley2: I want the benefits of cocoa butter but I don't want the smell to take over everything..unless I want it to smell like cocoa butter:smiley2: What is a good % of cocoa butter to have in a body butter without the smell overpowering the fragrance oil and/or essential oil? I also want to use Mango butter but it has a strong orange smell. Will this smell dominate as well? Also, which are considered your heavier oils and butters and which are considered your lighter oils and butters?
  5. Thank you for the advice. Have you heard of the preservative Cosmocil CQ? I've read that this is the new rave in natural preserving.
  6. Thank you! I look forward to learning a lot here! This IS going to be fun.
  7. Hello everyonel.:smiley2: I just started making my own body butters and have a few questions. 1. What types of coloring will work best in body butters? And at what point in the process would I add the colorant? 2. What is the standard ratio of butters to carrier oils in body butters? I made a small batch with 3oz of cocoa butter to 1oz of sweet almond oil. 3. Preserving - is polysorbate a preservative? What is the best natural way to preserve aside from extracts? 4. What natural products can be used to preserve for longer periods of time if, I am going to sale my products in a retail store? I have been looking at the TK website and their colors..love them! I just don't know what color to use for what. lol
