  1. Actually I do buy them (EC Wicks)from Candle Science. I buy my wax from Lone Star because I can drive there and pick it up and save myself the freight. I wonder does one company, I guess "Eco" make all of those wicks or is that a type of wick and not a brand. I know, probably a dumb question.

I am just perplexed, but also, yes it is the Cinnamon Stick and the Antique Sandalwood from Candle Science that are suddenly not wanting to burn. And I have read on other threads that Cinnamons are one of the hardest scents to get to burn, but I used to never have any problems with either of these scents and I have been using both scents from the very beginning, when I started 2 years ago.

And I am damn well not throwing out wax. I will just have to figure out something else.

  2. Awesome. I may try some of those. I really like the idea of getting away from the glue gun. I don't like the stringy cobwebby stuff and the occasional blister when a blob falls on me.

I tried the ones from Candle Science and they failed miserably. I put some in the jars. Pushed them down really well with the butter knife and then tried to pick up the empty jar by the wick and it came right out. I mean came right out.

I think I am going to try the permatex silicon rubber gasket sealer.

These are all wonderful suggestions. Thank you again. What a great group. Candlemakers rock.

  3. I am having the exact same problem you are having. These are scents I have been using for 2 years and never a problem until now. I haven't changed anything, supplies or method.

It is very scary and frustrating when you don't know if someone has gotten one of these candles and just doesn't want to say anything and then never buy from you again.

I don't know about all of you, but I need all the customers I can get.

I use Eco 8 wicks. I am wondering if they have put out a bad batch. And if so, do you buy from another supplier and hope they are different. Do they all come from a company called "Eco." How does that work.

  4. The 2 scents that I am suddenly having problems with them burning properly are both from Candle Science. One is the Antique Sandalwood and the other is their Cinnamon Stick.

I can't help but think I have gotten some bad wicks and don't know what I should do. Do I order more of the same Eco 8 wicks from Candle Science or would it help to try and order them from another supplier, or could it be that Eco has changed the way they are making the wicks?

I have been making candles for 2 years and have made both of these fragrances all of this time and now all of a sudden they won't burn. So frustrating. I definitely don't want to lose customers over this.

And I have not changed anything.

  5. I use a hot glue gun to stick my wicks in my jars, and I never used to have any problems, but now when you are burning my candles and you get close to the bottom of the candle the wick floats across the bottom of the jar. What is the best wicking method.

By the way I preheat my jars in an oven before pouring if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance for your help. Elizabeth
