I should thank MichelleB for the Shortening and Shea Sudsy recipe, that's the one I used to make this Mardi Gras bar. Great soap and I love the recipe.

Here's a photo from the Mardi Gras batch-scented with Cinnabon-so it smells like King Cake.
Thanks for looking.

What can you use in place of the FCO? I have everything else, but don't have this?

I love this recipe, I've made it about 3 or 4 times and have never had a problem with it. It sets up really fast and seems to cure to a hard soap in about 3 weeks. It also comes out of the molds really easy, since it gets so hard. I really don't recall seeing it gel, at least not like the other recipes I've used before. Thanks for the great recipe.

I made 2 batches of this for Christmas gifts. The first batch I made with Chocolate F/O and the other batch I divided between Oatmeal, Milk and Honey and Vanilla Oak F/O. Everyone raved about it. I still have some of the Chocolate left, but that's fine. I only kept a jar with a little bit of what was left over from a batch, so I'll use one myself. I just wanted to thank you for sharing the recipe with everyone. It's simple to make and great for this time of year when your hands are begging for moisture!
CPOP question

When I do CPOP, I put my soap in the oven at 170 for 1 hour and turn off the oven. I have an electric oven so when it starts to cool down I move my mold to the laundry room and put it in a bed of towels. I put plastic wrap over the top when I put it in the oven, but it does get a bubbly (very small) top to it. I really like that the soap is ready in two weeks after curing, but the top is a little distracting. I did it with Drakkar scent and a black with white swirl. It looked cooler with the bubbly top, so I left it. If I do something fancy, I try to just to it CP and let it rest for the longer time, it looks prettier.
Here's a photo of the soap, notice the top is a little grainy looking. I just hate cutting the swirl pattern off the top.
Good luck.
