I did two small batches of a Luxury CP Soap recipe I got off a forum, one Lavender (right side) and the other Coconut Lemongrass (left side)

This is the Coconut Lemongrass, cut

And the Lavender E/O 40/42

and Camo soap still in the mold from today,

Scent with Dirt, Sweetgrass, Cedarwood and some Fir needle. This is for the hunters in my family, DH, my brother and his kids.

You can use some vaseline or mineral oil. Those are the only two things I know of that don't saponify with the soap. You might still have to run a knife down the side to release it, but it might take some seasoning until it releases easily. Good luck.

For the Lavender and Vanilla, Vanilla batch, it was probably a three or four weeks. To me, it looked like it only browned on the lavender part. For the Black Amber and Lavender it had grey ash (over the purple color) the day after pouring. I washed it off and a couple of weeks later, the spots were back. Almost looks like rust spots.

Love the Red Sedona, the look matches the name perfectly.

The colors in the Kimono soap were pop colors (lemondrop yellow, Raspberry, blueberry and purple), but even when I use the oxides they fade a little or get that ash on top. I wondered if it might be the high temps when it gels that makes them fade a little.

Recipe is a revised Brambleberry recipe (the one they send out in the CP kits)

Avocado oil 4 oz 9%

Castor 3 oz 6.8%

Jojoba 3 oz 6.8%

Coconut 11.4 oz 25.8%

Olive 11.4 oz 25.8%

Palm 11.4 oz 25.8%

16.75 oz water and 6.05 oz lye. 5% sf, no water discount.

I made this batch on April 24, it might have been starting to get humid here (Southern Louisiana is humid except for deep winter), but I think we were still having the little bit of spring we actually got here. So temps were in the 70's for highs and the humidity didn't start getting bad here until May. I had them in my laundry room with wire shelving, but the soap is in open plastic baskets with fans blowing on them. The Black Amber and Lavender batch was in Feb and still developed DOS while we were still in winter and I still had the fans on to circulate the air even though it was cold. I cut the soap with a pastry cutter one bar at a time. I, also, have moved all the soap that has been curing for 4 to 6 weeks into my DD's room on another shelf (in A/C and under a ceiling fan) in boxes (for each batch) in the beginning of May. I have about 66 batches since the beginning of 2010 and these are the only 2 batches with DOS (only on the face of the bar) , same recipe for both. Thanks.

The two batches that got DOS were Black Amber and Lavender (Brambleberry) and I combined Lavender (purple section) and Vanilla, Vanilla (brown sections only) for the second batch (both from Brambleberry). I got ash on both, but also spots.

This is the Lavender and Vanilla, Vanilla, seems like the spots are mostly on the part of the soap that only had the Lavender F/O in it. The ash that both get on them washes off, but I get the DOS back. I can live with it, I love both of these scents and will keep them as my private stash.

I use a all vegi recipe, RTCP, 5% superfat and no water discount.

Am I doing something wrong on the slab mold stuff? It seems like my colors fade horribly in this mold. Could it have something to do with gel? Plus two of them got DOS, both with a lavender f/o (all vegi recipe, 5 % sf, no water discount). Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for looking.

I took a sliver of the Frankincense & Myrrh in the bath last night. Nice bubble and it really smells nice. I'll try it again tonight. I, too, like it because it's easy. It's nice to use a recipe that only has a hand full of oils. I haven't tried the Ylang Ylang yet, but probably soon. I have about 17 pieces of soap in there now, way too many, I need to cut them down a little first. Good luck, I'm sure you'll love it when you try it out.

Here's a batch I made with Frankincense & Myrrh E/O Blend. OMG, it smells so good. It did accellerate somewhat, but I think it was the E/O blend.

BB still has Soapy clean I ordered it from them for the father's day sale last month.

I like Bamboo (WSP) or Bonsai (BB) are both nice clean scents. Rain or Kentish Rain (BB) are nice, too. I'm kind of into the "clean" scents right now. Spellbound woods is nice in a light woodsy scent.

I used oxides and pop colors. Depends on the color I want, but mostly it's the oxides, the pop colors are from the TBK sampler. The colors in the Celestial Waters are both pop colors, apple green and blueberry, I believe, with just plain old titanium dioxide for the white.

I made this recipe CP today. I came out great. I made it in a slab mold and it went to full gel in under 3 hours. I actually took it out of the mold and cut it in 6 hours. I did forget to put the sugar and salt in the water and lye. Here's some photos, the scent is Ylang Ylang II essential oil

Thanks, I went to Soapcalc and played around to find a couple with the same numbers as Safflower. This is a batch of oils that I weighed out already to do another day. I may just go and get more safflower, but as I'm not ready to mix it yet, I plan on putting the final oils through soapcalc before I actually soap it to make sure the lye and water are alright. Thanks for the information.

That's all for the last couple of weeks. I've run out of room for curing soap, but, am happy to say, I'm ready for Father's day with lots of Male scents. I bought a chrome shelf and moved all the boxed soaping into my daughter's room (she's teaching English in Japan until August). I just made a bar with red oxide, it came out pretty red. More of a darker red, but stayed pretty true. I used Vetyver as the fragrance oil.

It wasn't what I was going for, but the milk in the recipe sped things up just a bit. I ended up just plopping it in the mold because it was like thick pudding! But it really isn't all that bad.

I love your swirls, and Navy blue? I didn't even think that was possible in cp.

I love how delicate your swirls are. Great colors, too.

I don't have small kids, but 2 dogs. The first time I made soap in my kitchen I went ahead and uses baby gates to keep them out of the kitchen and safe. Now, when I soap, they nap in another room and just leave me to it. I, also, go outside to mix my lye, then back inside after I have it thoroughly mixed and put it into an ice bath. good luck.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time I swirl.

That's one of the reasons I've been taking photos of the soap right after pouring into the molds. I get so disappointed when the fade after sitting overnight. I also take photos right after cutting, to show the difference. Sometimes, it's just slight ash and you can wipe out off and the color will still be there. I love the colors and the swirls are great.
