  1. I got a sample of the glow wax from Morris wax and also bought samples of icicle palm container, IGI 6010 vege crystal container and starburst pillar wax from Morris's sister company DPSwax. I poured testers using the glow and icicle container palm. I will post pics as soon as I can make my images smaller (working on my laptop right now). I guessed on starting wick size because even with researching I did not find much with the wicks I have.

I liked how the glow wax set up a lot better than the icicle. The icicle pulled away from the jars so on my second pour it creeped down the sides of the containers. Glow wax did not. I also made one tester without doing a repour with the glow wax.

all were made with 0.5 oz FO to 8 oz wax.

With the GLOW WAX I made two testers using 11 oz tureens.

One with Pink Sugar from Peak's using (2) LX-16's.

One with Country Berry Hotcakes from BCN using (2) HTP 93's.

With the icicle container palm I made 3 testers

One in the 11 oz tureen using HTP 93's (2) CBH from BCN.

One in an 8 oz square mason using Eco 10 and Birds of Paradise from BCS.

One in a 12 oz salsa using (2) HTP 62's.

We will see what happens. I will post pics before I burn and while I am burning if I can. I will keep the post updated on these wicks. Does anybody have any input on the size wicks, (sound too big, too small).

Tureens are about 3-3/4 inches at widest.

Mason is 3 inches from corner to corner

12 oz salsa is a little under 3 inches.

  2. I just ordered several different samples of palm from dpswax container and pillar wax and I can't wait. I also finally got some containers to wick properly using my own blend of parasoy and I won a triple heart mold off of ebay!!! It has been just a wonderful few weeks. I don't sell though. I usually give as gifts or my friends and family will buy candles from me but I have been in school and had a summer break off of school (but still having to work full-time) and I finally had time to pour candles again, a few anyway. It felt so good to finally get a few scents wicked properly and actually throw out of this world. I am doing the happy dance now. Sorry, for going on like this, but I just feel good!!!!! I have been playing with candles off and on now for about 4-5 years now and hopefully once I am finished with school I can have me a little side business!!!!

    :yay: :yay: :P:grin2::D:thumbsup: :whoohoo:

  3. Anybody know what kind of palm wax they use? I think they are beautiful and the one candle my friend has which is I believe their Tropical Fruit Bowl is so strong. I love the look of the Palm but don't know where to begin. i am thinking of buying 10 lbs from Taylored Concepts because their container palm says it holds 6-10% but also like the look of CS glass glow on the candle gallery but I just looked and they are still out.

Also I have HTP, zinc and a few CD's and Eco's. Has anybody tried Eco's in the Palm?

  4. Another update, with the straight CB in the 16 oz salsa jar I used two 62 HTP. In the second burn they drowned out. Couldn't find my 73's so now I am trying two 44-24z to see if they work. Any suggestions with wicking a 3.25 diameter jar with the straight CB? I have all kinds of different wicks. Zincs, performa, LX, CD, HTPs. I did have an awesome scent throw though with the 62 HTPs. I used the scent Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Frosting from Just Scent.

  5. Update on my dilemma, (in case anybody is interested). I pulled the 44-24z and placed two 51z. I believe the scent throw is better, although, I did test it in a different spot. I was testing it at my office but with the 51z's I tested it at home. I will take the candle with me to my office on Monday and retest there to see if the scent throw is better. My melt pool was about 1/2 inch and I only burned for 4 hours.

I also poured some Comfort Blend testers, just straight Comfort Blend in several different containers and wicks. I will let them cure and test them later.

  6. My dilemma, I am getting a perfect melt pool using double wicking 44-24z in a 16 oz (apoth or keepsake jar) Diameter is right at 4 inches. My melt pool is staying at about 3/8 of an inch. It takes about 3-1/2 hours to get a full melt pool at 1/8 inch deep, then it ends up at 3/8th of an inch towards the end of the burns. I have burned it from 4 hours all the way to 6 hours. Even though I am getting a full melt pool, my scent throw is not that great. I am using J223/soy combo. I have used this wax before and with same scent and have gotten it to throw in an 8 oz jelly jar so I know it should be stronger. My question, do you think maybe my melt pool is not getting hot enough with these wicks even though I have a full melt pool? I am definitely going to pull this wicks and try some 44-32z to see if I can get a hotter melt pool but wanted some opinions from the experts. (I am also going to try Comfort Blend/soy combo too to see what that does since I have a lot of the CB left). Thanks in advance.

  7. How much do you charge on gift baskets. Say my products came up to a total retail $30.00 and the basket cost $3.00, how would you price that? would you leave it at $30.00 throwing the basket in for free or would you take off $5.00 from products and then add in the $3.00 for basket making it $28.00. Or how would you do it.

  8. Gorgeous pottery. I took four semesters of ceramics and sculpting in college and loved every bit of it. Now I am in school to become a registered nurse but really miss my pottery days. Maybe after I graduate and have some money I can bet back into it. I am off to visit your website also.

  9. I am looking for some suppliers in Texas that carry preservatives and fixed oils. (I will take some other out state suppliers too but trying to stick with Texas since I can get it the next day) I am looking for a preservative for my sugar scrubs (no water added to these) and Apricot Kernel Oil for my dry body oil spray. Thanks in advance. (making gift baskets for my sister-in-laws and coworkers for Christmas)
