  1. Again, I was not trying to offend/call-out anyone... which is why I didn't mention any names. I was simply asking for opinions on the age of these oils... not the seller! I find it strange that before it was brought to anyone's attention who the seller was, everyone said that the oils sounded like they are probably old; and now that they know who the seller was they are all offering reasons for their aged qualities. I never said they smelled 'skunky' I said they smell 'off'. Just because I'm a newbie to this board does not mean I don't have the right to post my opinions or questions without getting browbeaten (or that I 'forgot how to use the brain God gave me'). Were you not all newbies here once too? Lets move on...
  2. I did not "slander" anyone-- I made no mention of a name whatsoever. I simply asked those who are more 'experienced' for their opinions regarding the age of the oils. I have brand new bottles of some of these exact same oils that smell and look noticeably different.
  3. And for the record, the ad said: "All smell fine. Kept in cool dark cupboard."
  4. Unfortunately, yes, I bought them off here. I was skeptical but bought them based on seller's abundance of positive feedback. Even the labels look old and the bottles are covered in dust. Lesson learned I guess. Is it typical to express disappointment to the seller in cases like this??? Thanks for helping a (naive) newbie out! :smiley2:
  5. I spend a decent chunk of change and ordered some FO from the classifieds and when they arrived today I was disappointed. They are all dark in color and smell 'off'... some smell like vinegar, and some smell like thick old lady perfume. Not a single one in the bunch smells good. I have always ordered new FO and am a noob so I don't really know the characteristics of old/improperly stored oils. Did I get ripped off?
  6. Just wondering what your favorite (or best selling) Spring scents are?
  7. What a productive day you had! I bet my husband is glad we don't live close to a supply store! haha!
  8. You all are so helpful! I'm definitely going to try the Country Gift Shop... I've never ordered from them before, so if anything, I'm learning about new places to shop! ; ) Thanks again!
  9. Mrs. Claus' Cookies- NG Iced Cinnamon Rolls- NG Harvest- LS And I agree, NG's patchouli does smell like dirt... yuck.
  10. To be a little more specific, she is wanting the 'smell' of the little, privately owned, home decor shops... That carry the barn stars, berry swags, specialty candles, wreaths, etc. I have NG's Home Sweet Home and Potpourri.... I will sample the others you mentioned. I appreciate the suggestions!
  11. The scent that they spray in their stores (every 30min.) is Fierce.
  12. My mother-in-law requested a candle smelling like all of the country-home type shops she goes to. Any suggestions??? Thanks!
  13. You guys have been very helpful and I now have many options to explore... the 1st reply got me discouraged enough to throw in the towel, but I'm glad I didn't. Thank you for taking the time to help! ashleylynn
  14. I appreciate all of the suggestions and encouragement! I have been working with/testing my candles for 3 1/2 months and just got hung-up on this one particular new scent (iced cinnamon rolls) that I was hoping to give as a gift because I love it. So I did not just decide to do this last week and have it all go downhill... I have had many candles turn out perfectly in this time, so I will just stick with what I know while I am still learning and testing. Everyone has to start somewhere... Thanks again for the SUPPORTIVE comments!
  15. The only wicks I have are the CD 20's and the 51-32-18's... Maybe I will see how they do with a single wick. I have not tried that in the soy, but it didn't work well with the paraffin that I used before.
  16. I am a newbie and just made a batch of candles to give away as Christmas gifts. I have had several burn without major incident until I burned one today and the wicks keep drowning in their 2" melt pool!! Hopefully it is just this scent and not all of the candles are ruined, but I need to get this corrected before Christmas! HELP!!!! Wax: GB 464 Wick: Double wicked 51-32-18 zinc Container: 16oz Apothecary jar I also have CD 20 wicks... would these work better or should I order new ones?? ANY suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!!!
  17. Hi, I'm a newbie and also using 464 in 16oz apothecary jars... wondering if you've found a good combo yet?? I only have 2 types of wicks (zinc 60-44-18 & CD 20) I've double wicked with the Zinc's and get a full, deep melt pool... too deep? When I double wick the CD 20's they drown. Wanted to get some opinions before ordering any more... Any suggestions??? THANKS!! : )
