  1. Has anyone here tried the new Red from Oregon Trails. There was picture on the site of a soap swirled with it.

I saw that too a few days ago. They are always finding cool new colorants to offer.

Honestly i have never had too many problems when i use the brick red and black oxides

  2. Also...it isnt moisturizing enough. If I add shea butter will that help make it less oily or will that add to the oily?

If I can add shea butter, can I scoop it out of the jars, mix in the shea then put it back in the jars???

    tia!!!

do you mean runny/soupy? cause it will be oily no matter what because you are using oils. If you add shea butter it should thicken it up a bit so its not so runny/soupy/

you should be able to scoop them out, add the shea and re-package them no problem

  3. I have been getting the same. I am using Swan's Accu10 and and 4786. Great color retention and both CT and HT. Them damn air pockets! I usually do a repour. I might try melting them down in the oven, but doesn't the scent of the candle stay in there? That's always been my worry, is that all my food would taste like candles! :sad2:

its the ACCU 10 that is causeing such bad air pockets. if you can, try switching to the C-3

  4. I make some for my son who has eczema, It's been a while since I made it but I used olive oil, beeswax, calendula, tea tree oil. I infused the olive oil and strain the petals, then melt the wax add the tea tree oil and mix. Now I make mine more of a salve or consistancy and pour it into double wall jars. We use it for everything, diaper rash eczema, bug bites etc...

ah thats a good idea instead of using water and an emulsifier.

  5. hmm, interesting. I emailed them, but no response-yet. If it is, that would really be great! I started out testing candles with that wax, found out it was discontinued and switched.

I think I might just have to order some to see if it is comparable. Great news! Thanks for the response :cheesy2:

Discontinued and switched? Whos wax? Not the C-3

  6. I'll tell you one that I want to try and make..

I recieved a item in one of the swaps I was in..

and fell in love with this scent..

    Flickers..White Tropical Musk..

and it is not what you naturally think of..pinapples, bananas..ect.

and I don't think it is a dupe..but oh my it smells wonderful..

I know that you are not supposed to..but I put the straight oil on my wrist..and can't keep from smelling..

Making perfume is my next learning project...

I have been eyeballing this one for a while. Now I will have to try it.

I am going to say Pink Sugar, Cherry Blossom or Japanese Cherry Blossom

  7. Based on these links, it is like others have said. They just look big in the picture because of the angle, or maybe because there is no frame of reference. For example, if Soapfreak's beautiful Lemon Lavender picture had a dime showing in front of the bars, you would see that they are just normal size bars of soap.

agreed, those bars in those link are probably actually 3 1/2 x 2 x 1 inch bars, they just look a bit wide.

  8. Apricot Seed meal is a good one

I would go with Majestic Mountain Sage, they have a bunch of natural seed for exfoliation.

Jojoba Beeds are like wax beeds, they would most likely melt in CP soap but hold up great in M&P or if you do rebatches or HP and add right before you pour, those temps are probably cool enough that they may hold up.

  9. I tried the hot coconut oil this afternoon and it stopped the itch for awhile but it's back already.

I've had allergy test and do have a lot of them and they do suck.

I do make cold pour and have thought about making my own shampoo bar. I've tried speciality shampoos but have been out for awhile because I haven't needed them so thought maybe something like lavender or tea tree oil might be good.

Carrie, It sounds like we have the same itchy spots. My shins itch also. I was thinking the tea tree oil might help. Why do you say not to use it. Maybe I'll try the jojoba tomorrow.

    Thanks for the replies.

Because tea tree actually dries out the scalp.

yes, Neem is quite good too.

  10. I am wanting to make it specifically with out wax. Its just really hard to find lip balms with out wax, so I decided to try on my own (now I see why it's so hard to find). Yea, Im thinking I just need to up my butters. What are the good really hard butters? and do you think it will be creamy enough?

    Use some Stearic Acid.
