  1. So far I have only baught a few toys from WSP for embeds and they didn't come with a warning label that I saw. I was trying to do a search both online and on my kids toys to get some verbage, but not much was coming up and everything was so different of what I could find. Thanks for your help, I like your suggestions:yay:
  2. ok. That makes more sense Papermart is great for packaging. Reasonable prices too. Also another place you can look is Uline. They have really fast shipping as they will ship the same day if you get it in by a certain time. They have a wearhouse in Illinois, so I always get my stuff the next day!!!!
  3. I'm no help on the pricing/packaging of votives since I just started testing them. Have not looked at packaging yet. However, I'm a little confused on your pricing of your votives. If your're charging $1.70 per votive, how are you getting $18 for a box of six? Wouldn't it be about $10.70?. (1.70*6)=10.20 plus 50 cents for the box, $10.70. Am I missing something? $18.00 is very high for votives and I wouldn't pay that. $7.00 for the jar candle doesn't seem high to me and would be willing to pay that price.
  4. How do/would you write the warning label for soaps that contain small toys? I'm thinking this, please revise if needed. Choking Hazard: Soap contains small plastic pieces.
  5. Has anybody sucessfully been able to put m&p soap in squeeze bottles to draw designs on thier bars? I'm trying to figure out if it would be thick enough to do this or if it will just run all over and won't be able to make out what I "drew"
  6. that is so cool!!! It amazes me what people come up sometimes :smiley2: I was at a show and a vendor there only did diaper stuff. All sorts of different cakes, animals, and stuff. I think that is a cool way to give the needed gift of boring diapers in a very creative way Tell them GREAT JOB!!!
  7. I have a silicone bread pan that I used to use when first starting m&p. I quickly stopped because the sides bowed out so it looked more oblong shapped. It was better when I build something to support the sides, but still not streight sided like I wanted. It was a different brand than this, so your results may be different.
  8. I make my stuff at home and I have not noticed it getting into everything. I do notice that my clothes that I'm wearing that day will sometimes smell a little like the scents I poured, but that is it. My friends comment that my house smells good or like the scent I made that day, but if I don't make anything that day (or I'm not testing something), they don't comment. I don't mention to them if I made something that day or not.
  9. shows to tell you that I don't have very old kids. I had to look up silly bands, I thought they were something like silly puddy . I like the idea, will have to look to see if I can get those things locally.
  10. I was wondering that too. I have not heard of silly band soap before Sounds very interesting
  11. I am going to add a small line to my soaps of all "fun" soaps. These would be little novalty/gift soaps. Here are my ideas so far and was wondering if you guys had any others. They don't all have to be melt and pour, they can be from scratch as well. fish bowl- clamshell soaps with fish embeds (saw them on this forum) "ducks" on a pond lumps of coal and snowman/raindeer "poop"- for the holiday season cupcake soaps - found a tutoral on soap queen tv that I thought was cute and would try
  12. I really like to go to Candle Science and use their wick guide to help me with wicks. I'm not sure what diamater size you are using, so I guessed and chose the 3 to 3.5 inch (or if I even chose the correct wax since I didn't see 4630A, just 4630). With the LX series, they said the 18 and if you read the foot notes, it also says to try the size up and down from the 18. Here is the link for you. http://www.candlescience.com/learning/wick-guide.php Another wick guide I like is wickit, but it doesn't help you narrow down based on wax like Candle Science does. Here is that link. http://www.wickit.net/recommendations.html#eco Also, if you let us know what the candle is doing besides having no throw, that may help too. What is the melt pool depth, how long are you burning, what is the size of the room, flame height and anything else about the actual burn may be helpful to narrow down a suggestion for you as well.
  13. I'm testing the beads as well too. I tested 3 scents so far and all of them take at least 1 day to soak up the oil. I don't know where you got your beads, but one of the places I was looking at said that if it takes more than 1 week, then to add more beads. So give the jar a few shakes every time you walk by until all the oil is soaked up. I'm not 100% sure since I have not tested a dye free FO that is yellow, but I don't think that will make the beads turn yellow. It may, but I'm not sure.
  14. Thanks. I sent the oatmeal through the food processer and I felt it between the burst, but I guess it felt smoother to my finger tips then it did once it got in the soap. It isn't very scratchy, just mildly.
  15. Lets try this again. Not the best picture, need to work on getting it to look sharper
  16. I decided to try some oatmeal in my soap. I think I did alright. I left it unscented and undyed. When testing a piece last night, I didn't get the oatmeal ground as fine as I was hoping, but I think I really like it that way. Gives it a little scrubby feeling to it. I used more water than what I normally do so i could get the oatmeal good and incorporated into the soap, so it is still rather soft, so we will have to see how long it takes to fully cure. I just love the color it made the soap.
  17. I was going to do the same as you, but I am going to leave mine all unscented. I find that tealights just don't throw very well (because they are small), and was just going to have them to use with burners and to have with my forever pillars (whenever I get them done). Now, just need to work on testing them. They have been sitting on the back burnner for way to long.
  18. I'm in love right now with Peaks Spruceberry. When I use it I can smell a little more berry than pine!!!
  19. at least I know that I'm not the only one that doesn't like to wear gloves. I will try to do better and do what Luminous said... but I'm so bad at that. I just hate the water getting into the gloves when I'm washing up those dishes. I wear the gloves while I'm washing out my containers that held the lye and the lye water, but at soon as those are all washed up... those gloves are off.
  20. Thanks. I warmed up the oils again and tried making the soap. It was a new recipe that I was trying and it went right into the trash. I'm not even going to attemt to see if I can save it. The oils all seporated, it looks like cottage cheese, and it was lye heavy (probably because the oils seporated). The soap calc printout is even going into the trash. I have not even figured out why I decided to try a new recipe since I'm IN LOVE with my current recipe. Probably because I found it online, sounded yummy, and thought, why not try it and because I love to try new things
  21. Those are cute, the only problem is that since I'm doing crock pot hot process, I can't get a nice smooth top unless I over fill and then cut off the top after it dries. That idea is very cute if I was doing cp since my top would be smooth already (at least i'm assuming it would be from seeing all of the pics posted. I have not tried CP yet). I tried the grating and making into balls idea. They turned out cute and I think for a few of them next time, I'm going to make some of the balls a little smaller and use them for my "thank-you" gifts. I need to test them yet to see how easily usable they are as the round balls. I may need to make the balls and then flaten a little to make more of an oval as I do with the testers I make with each batch.
  22. I was in process of making up a batch of soap, but just before I was going to take down the lye and mix it up with my water, my youngest woke up from his nap. I don't trust him awake without dad home when I soap, so I just turned off the crock pot and now just waiting for the hubby to get home so I can finish up the soap. Do I or should I warm the oils back up before mixing with the lye or can I just turn the crockpot back on and go? I just checked on it and nothing is hardening back up yet (palm or coconut oil). The crockpot has been off for about 3 1/2 hours. Thanks
  23. an easy way to figure out how much you need with the percents is going to a lye calculator and plugging in the recipe. I like http://www.soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcWP.asp as I can type in how many oz/lbs/grams I want in my combinded oils (section #2) and it will figure it all out for me and tell me how much lye and water I need. Figuring that all out on my own would make me very nervous that I would mess up the calculations somewhere.
  24. I have been making a couple of oz extra of soap to overfill my mold so I can cut off the top and make smooth tops. I'm trying to think what I could do with this extra soap that I cut off. (I do the crockpot hot process for those who are wondering why I'm overfilling) What are some ideas to do with this extra soap. Here are some of my ideas. 1. Using it for free samples for customers who either want to try to soap or as a thank-you gift. I think it looks to ugly for that. 2. Cutting it into some thick strips and then rolling into balls or making into rectangles and throw in a discount basket, but they are rough and crumbly looking. Any other suggestions on what to do... or even how to make my above ideas work. Thanks:)
