Look over in the health foods stores at their vegetable shortenings.....many of the organic brands are palm oil. You can also use the trans fat style vegetable shortening. I use the Kroger/Fred Meyer type, although the Supervalu/Albertsons/SaveALot is the same thing. Hard bar with soybean and cottonseed oil. It doesn't last as long as lard or palm, but I haven't had DOS problems with it.
