  1. This is probably a stupid question, but is any way you can find out how much it cost to send some candles in the mail, without going to the Post office. My sister-in-law wants me to send her some candles, she lives in Florida, and I live in Tx.

    Thanks,Anna

  2. Never did a mb yet, but did you remember to weigh your bucket when you first started, and tare it so it's weight wasn't included in your measurements? That would be the only thing that comes to mind, that maybe something wasn't tared.........Other than that sorry I can't help more. I just know how it is trying to figure out how something didnt' go right. I am the queen of that :D

That very well could have happen.I had my DH,and Brother watching me and asking question while I was doing it.The next time it will be totally quietness in my house.I have a one track mind.

  3. I made up five, five lb master batch of oil,and put it in a five gal bucket.Decided to divide it,weight it out into separate containers, and ended up with four five lb batches, and one four lb batch.I don't know where I lost the other lb.Can I make a one lb batch, and add to it.I will run it thru the calc.

    Thanks,Anna

  4. we've been pretty busy in the shop we have 4 fundraisers out right now - last Thursday we poured just over 300 in about 4 hours - that's 2 of us pouring and one labeling - and keeping wax cut for us - -- Jars were pre-wicked..

OMG,four hours. How in heaven name did you stir that many in four hrs?Did you stir by hand?I am always looking for a quicker way.

  5. Let us know how it turns out! I've had softer soap at first when I've used lye water that had been sitting around for awhile. Just my experience; your mileage may vary! :)

The batch I made yesterday with lye water that was 64 degrees, two days old turned out very good. The bar was semi hard.today they are hard.making the lye water ahead,is the only way to do it.I hate waiting for anything.

  6. I pour 6 11oz tureens per batch of wax (3# 5 ozs. wax) Yesterday my husband and I poured 21 batches - over 120 tureens. Also poured a few batches tins. We have 2 Turf & surf melters. Tureens were for a fundraiser.

I wish my dh would help me,and learn the art of making candles. He wants no part of it.Don't you just love the turk n surf?

  7. If I pour the whole day from morning til night I can pour about 150 16oz pint mason jars. Have I ever poured that many? Yup, several times too, getting ready for a big show. This time also included pouring the matching clamshells too~ of which there were 320 same day!:tongue2:

I bet you are one tired human being when you get thru. It's the stirring that kills me.I'm not as young as I use to be.:D

  8. I am so freaking mad!I made two batches of soap today, using my master batch. That is a great way to make soap, and quick. But both batches turned brown in the pot.I used Pomegranate Anise(love it)from BNL,and Black raspberry vanilla from Starville.I was going to do a red swirl in the PA batch, but did it solid.Had to vent,Thanks.
