Shannon, "will you marry me"? If not, can I drop over some afternoon and get some lessons on how to make those FANTASTIC candles of yours. They are drivin me crazy they're so gorgeous. I watch a TV show that's called "HOW'D THEY DO THAT" I've finally got around the corner making rustics (almost) and then you come along and blow me away with yours. PLEASE keep posting they're great. By the way, I see you are into archery, I held the Ontario championship 2 years in a row (40 years ago)

Donita. I'd be honored to have you copy (and improve) my rustic, but, you must promise to show it to me. I'm just in the middle of two more, I hope they are better than my first two attemps. Thanks all for the comments.

Damn, you're good. Beautiful candle. I'm in Canada, when's the next class start? smile

Thanks for the look. Yes I keep and follow my notes. You have an answer to my question about why the top and bottom are different. I made all pours at 150 over a light skin.
-
Thaks to all that responded to my first attemp. Please, can anyone tell me why I didn't get the same effect on the top and bottom layers as I got on the middle, I really don't know what happened.
Thanks again

Thanks to all the help and suggestions from the board members. I used 4625 wax, poured each layer at 150 afdter skin formed on prev. layer. Sented with Anise (licorice) 1.4 pz. good cold throw, don't know about hot, "don't wanna light it just yet" smile. Special thanks to TRISH.

OK gang. One more question. I poured a layered rustic today FIRST ONE. I poured 4 layers all at 150. It's still in the mold, I have to do the fill the poke holes pour. The candle is pretty well set up is it gonna be right (or wrong) to fill the holes at 170. PLEASE
-
Man, I'm happy to see your pix. They look great to me (little Canadian boy) I just received a case of 4625 today, hoping to get some great results for rustics. I've been studying every word on here about them and Trish has given me some advice so I'm good to go in the next couple of days. If one turns out I'll post it for sure.

Thank all you lovely girls and (guys) it's all clear as mud to me now. My first problem now is the fact that I have a cade of 4625 comming today for RUSTIC pillars and now find I should be using 1343 (which doesn't seem to be available in Canada) Back to the drawing board I guess.

You girls are breakin my heart. I'm trying to make RUSTICS and am failing miserably. PLEASE, I have a new case of 4625, would someone please walk me thru the steps to get a rustic with this wax. It seems thus far that it is a very closely gaurded secret. If I could make one RUSTIC that turned out half as nice as those that TRISH makes, "I would die a happy man" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

These things are driving me crazy as well. TRISH makes the most beautiful RUSTICS in the world. HOW SHE DOES IT IS A VERY CLOSELY GAURDED SECRET. I'll be watching this post with anticipation. Good luck girls.

Many thanks to all that responded to my question. POINT WELL TAKEN, I will now use the double boiler for melting repours, Thanks to all that responded.
-
Is it OK to heat my repour wax in a pyrex measure cup in the microwave oven in short bursts. I've tried it and it works, BUT, is it a safe practice???
Appreciate any and all input. I'm a novice.

Thanks all. I'm off to Wally World tomorrow.

I see many of you speak of a heat gun. Would this be a hair blow dryer or the thing you would use to strip paint. Thanks all

I'm using the zinc core metal tabbed votive wicks and haven't had this problem with other FO's, maybe it's the FO that's causing this. It's not really a big deal because they burn great with a full melt pool and last about 15 hours with the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch after each burn
-
Hi all. As you may or may not know I'm a newbie. I've made a few votives and all seemed well UNTIL THE LAST BATCH, during test burn on this particular candle each time I blow it out I get sort of a mushroom looking thingy on the wick. Please, what's the problem?
thanks TO ALL THAT RESPOND
