  1. I have been looking to add more FO's to what I already have. I looked on this board and it mentioned Justscent, so I went on the website and I am reading and on alot of the descriptions it says strong, heavy, hot & cold great throw, etc... Are these FO's really that excellent? Would like to hear from someone about this. Thank you in advance. Depends on what everyone says, just to let you know, they have a sale on 1 oz samples this week, so if I get enough feedback on this, I will probably order some samples. Thank you in advance!!!!
  2. I was just going to let you know that I ordered some FO's from CierraCandles on the last day and I rec'd an e-mail from them Friday stating that I will receive my shipment 5-6-08!!! Will let you know when I get the order.
  3. I am not selling on line, but I have sold some of my candles at the following locations: hair salons, (start where you get your hair cut at, usually she rents the booth, so she can put anything in there that she wants to and she does not even charge me anything, she does buy candles for me for her personal use, I sell them to her in a case and give her at a wholesale price. I have about 25 at a bible bookstore right now and the owner of the store gets 30% commission. So I am still doubling my money there. I have sold some wholesale at a locally owned pharmacy here in town also. Just look around your town and try and hit the individuals that have their own place, not like a franchise. I will probably hit some tanning salon's also and sell to them at wholesale. I have also thought about liquor store's, I know that might sound funny, but make some that are: Fuzzy navel, strawberry daiquiri, wine & roses etc... and sell them at wholesale to them. Since you have alot of votive's, I would sell them with the votive container and candle in it, I think they would sell if they would put them by the register and just ask people, most guys will purchase a candle for their lady, when they are in there getting wine. Hope this helps some.
  4. I have used the following FO's: Cake-Bake, Mulberry, Plumeria, Chocolate, Country Spice, Grape, Hearts & Flowers, Sex on the Beach, Black Cherry, Apple Jack, Lilac, Juniper Breeze. Have not had any problems with the throw hot or cold, actually~when I make the Chocolate and Lilac, they are so strong it gives me a headache:sad2:. I have tried the Pumpkin Spice (twice) and it is terrible. You can contact them by e-mail and they will send you some FREE SAMPLES!!! Just remember like someone previously said, the prices on the website is for 1 pound and you have to purchase a min. of 2 pounds, so it is actually double that price. Hope this helped a little:grin2: Almost forgot, I am using 100% soy wax and 8% on the FO.
  5. Yeah, I did check it and I think the scale was $27.95 (I can't remember exactly) and it didn't give the 50% on the scale. The only reason it really stood out was, I thought - Man, what did I buy for that much money and then realized it was the scale. I knew all of my FO's that I ordered didn't come up to that single amount. I already have a scale, I just thought it would be nice to have another one and/or a back up one just in case. I am like you, hopefully-we will get our order soon. I am thinking that since they will not be getting anymore orders or e-mails that they should not be as busy and maybe get things out in a good amount of time.
  6. Well, I ordered some FO's from Cierra Candles since today is the last day to order. I figured since they were 1/2 price, what the heck. I was thinking everything was 1/2 price, but I was going to purchase another scale and it did not show up as 1/2 off, so I deleted it out of my cart. It said on the website if you spend $99.00 or more FREE SHIPPING. Well, I ordered a little over $200.00 and it had shipping cost of about $20.00 (est.) and I thought, well - maybe once the transaction goes all the way thru it will take the shipping cost off, but it didn't!!! I thought I had read that from somoeone else on this board. Just thought I would let you guys know. I did e-mail them about it, so hopefully I will get a credit on my card. :rolleyes2
  7. I don't have the carrying case, but my mom went to Michael's/Hobby Lobby about a year ago and in the bead/jewelry dept. they have the container's that look similar to the website from what I can tell. They are about 1 1/2 round clear plastic containers, the top container has a lid on it and the other containers just screw onto the bottom of the container that has has the lid. It was originally meant for the jewelry makers in order for them to seperate the beads from one another. My mom carry's hers in her purse w/business cards of course and when people that know her says Hi! What have you been up to? That is all it takes and there she goes - Mom says Oh, I have been making candles and then the people get interested and mom starts pulling stuff out of her purse and next thing you know we are home pouring candles from the order we just took. Everyone usually finds a scent they like and then turns around and gets one or their sister or someone else. We have taken small labels, I can't remember the size, I am thinking it is address labels size or smaller and put them around on the side of each container stating the FO. They look pretty cool, because in the spring/summer - she will have it w/pastel colors: pink, blue, green, yellow and purple. Then there's the 4th of July: red, white, blue. Halloween time: orange, purple, black. I know you guys get the idea. You just have to make sure that your wax is not too hot when you pour it into the small plastic containers. I don't know how much mom spent for it, I know it was cheap. Here where we live, in the Sunday paper - almost every Sunday there is a coupon for Michael's/Hobby Lobby and you can get usually 50% off a regular price item, so that makes them extremely cheap. Mom has even went on line and signed up for them to e-mail her coupons and she gets them every Sunday. Sorry, this was so long.
  8. Could you hang them from the rear view mirror? Once they are in a nice little organza bag? Just a thought. That way, the small beads would be up front where the adults are and if they have children, more than likely the children will be buckled in the back seat. That way a child would not think it is some kind of candy.
  9. I just saw HALO on www.Chemessence.com and they have it for $10.75 per pound. I have never smelled it, what is it like??? I love the name!!!
  10. My other FO's that I purchase I can get 2 Lbs. for $16.00 and now the blueberry muffin is $18.00 for 1 Lb. I can get double the FO for my money with my other FO's and I always told myself if the blueberry muffin goes up anymore, I won't purchase it anymore, the problem is I am like my customer's I love it also. I guess I will just have to suck it up and pay the big bucks. I am just glad that Yank** and the other big manufacturers are going up on their prices, because I can always under bid them, so far. Thank you for the reply, you helped me make my decision alot easier.:smiley2:
  11. O.K. I always bought my blueberry muffin FO from WSSP. The FO has went up about $2.00 per pound and I want to try and mix my own. I was told at one time that it had cake bake in it. I don't know how accurate that is, but I guess I will try it. This is my #1 seller and I am selling wholesale, so I can't make the blueberry muffin candle more expensive than the other candles. I have previously send some of the FO off to have companies try and copy it and they can't even get close to it. I have never mixed FO's, so were should I really start, 50/50 ratio??? Help please, I am pouring the last of my blueberry muffin FO today and I hate the thought of spending $18.00 per pound, when my other FO's that I use are $16.00 usually for 2 pounds, I get them from Chemessence and have had great results. Thank you in advance.
  12. I personally would not double wick it. I have used tumblers that are 7 oz. w/the same diameter you have and in pure soy - 8% FO, no dye and I could wick them with 51z's or HTP105 - single wick. I try not to double wick anything (unless I have too) it is just another wick (7 to 9 cents each and then another glue-dot) Remember, it all adds up and with the cost of soy wax and FO going up, we need all the help we can get. I hope this helps:p
  13. E-mail Chemessence.com and they will send you 3 samples free. I am using GB 415, no dye in my candles. I know from experience the following throws hot and cold: Vanilla, Mulberry, Plumeria, Cake-Bake, Chocolate, Rose and Cinnamon. When you look on their website it lists the FO by price in a 1 lb increments, so basically you have to times that by 2, to actually get you your correct price and it is in 2 lb. brown plastic bottles, instead of glass that saves on shipping. I know they have went up on their FO, since I have ordered, have not seen the new prices yet, that is just was I was told. Peak's also have great FO's - I usually by 10 small sample bottles from them, instead of purchasing a pound of FO. Hope this helps:smiley2:
  14. You might look at and/or call and talk to Doug at myownlables.com. I have purchased my labels from them and love them!!!! Super great to work with. If your order is over $50.00 they will e-mail you your proofs to makesure everything is the way you want it to be. Very Professional Labels Good-Luck
  15. On the bags, I would try Nashville Wraps, they were the cheapest for me when I was looking, I can't remember the density that I purchased though, I am sorry. You might look at Sam's Wholesale??? I did not think of them when I purchased mine from Nashville Wraps. As far as the clamshells, I did purchase mine from WSP about a year ago. I poured blueberry muffin in them, which is my favorite FO. Let them cure for about 2 weeks and when I went to take them out, it did not smell like the blueberry muffin, it had a chemical smell or something. I poured some candles the same time I poured the clamshells and the candles came out fine. So, I don't know what happened there. If you have not tried their blueberry muffin FO you will need too. It is my number one seller, men and women love this. I work in an office during the day and I am always burning it, we have 12 people in our office and everyone loves this, even the customers that come in ask about what fragrance it is. Naturally, I tell them, I have been told that it has a little of cake bake FO in it. I have actually sent a sample off it off to a Company, so I could maybe get them to match the FO and possibly purchase it a little cheaper, but they could not get the scent wright. Sorry, I got off of the subject. :smiley2:
  16. I am using GB415, my wax is in a presto pot also. I keep it clear of dye and FO, just plain wax. I put a candy thermometer in it and get the wax to 175, usually (on my presto pot, that is between the W and the A on WARM) I then take a 4 cup small measuring pouring pitcher and pour the wax in my pouring pot, then I weigh it. I write down the weight measurement just in case, just to the side of the pot, I keep newspaper on my counter tops. I then push TARE with the pitcher still on the scales and it will go to zero, then I just start pouring my FO directly into the pouring pot (since my FO has the spouts on them) that way I am not wasting any expensive FO) once I get the amt. of FO I need. I stir for about 2 minutes and let set til it looks like things are floating in the wax, almost small flake like things and it will get a little cloudy, then I pour into my glass containers. I don't pre-heat my jars. (naturally, I have already pre-wicked my jars and put my labels on them while waiting for the wax to cool down) I have messed w/it like you said you have and I have poured from 100 to 165 degrees and w/mine, it is best to just look at it and wait for the floaters. Mine have come out very creamy looking and smooth on top. Sometimes I will get wet spots, but who doesn't. I do have a heat gun and I have used it previously til I found my niche with this wax. I hope this will help you
  17. My friend came over and took picture's of the candles before and after lighting them. But for some reason, she can't get it to work on my computer and she she e-mailed the picture's to her computer at home and still can't get them to transfer over. I will see if she will try again (sorry)
  18. Keshia, I think the cotton cored wicks, burn hotter than the zinc wicks. This was the first time I tried the cotton wicks also. You might be able to make the zinc's work, I just wanted to have the cotton, since they are in soy candles. I did go into Hallmar* Gift shop today on my lunch hour and they had a new brand of soy candles in there and they did have zinc wicks in them. I personally think the consumer has no clue, like we do. Before I started making candles I would not have cared what type of wick was in my candle as long as it burned well and smelled good. My friend is suppose to come over tonight and take a picture of one of my candle's, so you will be able to see how clean the burn was. I was going to mention to you, just in case if you don't know, you can purchase the jars on line @ Dollar Tree Direct, you will just have to put in the store # and SKU#, that way Dollar Tree can ship the containers directly to Dollar Tree and you just go and pick them up (no shipping) just gas getting there!!! I like it this way, because you also get the boxes that the containers come in, which is nice.
  19. I purchase my labels from: www.myownlabels.com and LOVE - LOVE THEM!!!
  20. Go to myownlables.com, go there NOW!!!! I guarantee you will love the prices and variety you have to choose from. If you want something specific, they will make it for you. I purchased my labels from there and I love them!!! I usually do not go to this area of the website very often, so I apologize for the lateness on this.
  21. I will try and get one of my friends to come over and take pictures, it is suppose to snow tomorrow, so it might be a few days. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier, no soot what so EVER!!!!
  22. As soon as I read this post, I went and got some more GB 415, I really just wanted to purchase 50 LBS, but the lady that I purchase my wax from said she only had 2 boxes left and she would sell them to me @ $48.00 per box for now, but next time she places an order it will be $17.00 more per BOX!!! I am like you guys, what is up!!! She said the manufacture of the wax told her that soybeans went up from $3.00 bushel to $12.00 bushel, that is all I know. I had noticed in town that even the Yank** candles have went up alot, I know that their candles probably don't have any soy in them but, I think it is the 16 oz container here in Okla. is selling for $20.00, has went up about $5.00. Thank goodness I can drive and get my wax, it is about 45 minutes away but mom and I go and make it a day of shopping and eating.
  23. I will cut to the chase, I am using the following: GB 415, 8% FO, no dye and (2) 51-32-18C wicks. The container is actually 11 oz's, but I put 10 oz's in the container, I never fil them to the rim. I wick them diagonally, not side by side. It helps me to wick them better, if I turn the square container a 1/4 to the left, so then the square container looks like it is a diamond shape now and I wick it that way. (hope that makes scents!!! - get it make scents - O.K. that was silly) The FO's that have worked so far are: Mulberry, Cake-Bake and Plumeria. (FO's were purchased from Chemessence, Inc. if you ever purchase FO from them, you just have to remember that the prices that are on the internet are per pound, BUT containers come in 2 LBS. containers, so just double the price, the FO previously use to come in the dark glass bottles, but they have since changed to the dark plastic bottles, that helps on the shipping cost naturally) I can not believe how perfect the candles burned with all 3 scents + not having to wick up or down. Was able to get a melt pool within the correct time range!!! **I also, tried (2) RRD-37 - it was o.k, it took about 4 days on testing and the 4th day, it finally got the hang up off of the sides of the container (not really that much hang up actually very little) ***The one's I tried that DID NOT WORK AT ALL: (2) HTP 52, (2) HTP 62, (2) HTP 105, (1) HTP 1212 AND (1) HTP 1312. I hope I put enough info. in here that will help:D
  24. I will try and get w/my friend this weekend and take picture's of the candles and see if she can upload them for me.
  25. I know this doesn't have anything to do w/the plastic lids. But I have purchased about 20 of the same size container from DT and I am using GB415, no dye, 7 or 8% FO and I have tried to single wick it, I have even went to HTP1312, still can't get a full melt pool, I did try (2) 51z's and it did good, the reason I did the zinc was I had tried all the other wicks that I had and they have not worked. I wish I could single wick it, but I just don't know. I have since then, ordered some RRD's and HTP's 73 and 83's and I guess I will double wick it, I know that sounds like the wicks might be to big but, I have spoke to alot of different individuals from different companies and they have all told me w/soy - you always have to wick up and sometimes not just one size. I am going to get my wicks Tuesday and then I will be a burning FOOL!!! I will let you know how it turns out.
