  1. baby oil is mineral oil (as elitenaildesign said), so its really not good or have many benefits for your skin (but clog your pores), so i wouldn' t use it. Good oils to try are, olive (which is pricey also) soybean oil, rice bran oil or a mixture of them..... b/c a scrub is something you wash off, you dont want to toss expensive oils in it. it would go to waist if that makes sence. for salt you can use severale kinds....fine dead sea salt, epsom salt, solar salt and dendritic salt which helps hold fragrace in your salts. which can all be purchased very cheaply online...i like to get mines from www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com "to me" it's reasonably priced and worth it. Also if you have a spare blender you can get salts like black or pink Himalayan and grind it down!! being resourceful really works!! oh and add addictives like oatmeal and or aprocot seeds or strawberry seeds (grounded) you can come up with a lot to help add a little "umph" to your scrubs!! oh and make sure you have a good preservative too!! gotta be careful of the water germies.. as far as sugar i like to use "sugar in the raw" it's a raw sugar and thicker in size and comes in a recycled brown bag/package that say's "Sugar In The RAW"....and i use regular organic cane sugar from a organic food store....but when you mix the 2 together (for me) and also the rest of the ingredients, a little does go a long way! best of luck to you and let us know what you came up with!
  2. thanks for the kudo's guys!! and i love the "chain option" and "party idea" bbsweets & cindym!! asheebeans i'll pm' ya!!

  4. I've been selling on Etsy for about 3 months now and personally I like it! The prices are cheap to list and it seems like more and more people are buying from it. So far i've done good with sales, from people I do know and don't know. Im using it as a leadway to open my own site, first see how good i do on etsy then upgrade to a website. I think it's good for people to try it out and see what they make of it for themselves. Sinc it doesn't have a montly fee (but what you use in posting your piture and in your sales) it's good b/c if you like it you keep going and if you don't then shut your account down! But I must say if you don't advertise and let people know it does hurt your sales.... So when you do it, LET THE WORLD KNOW!!!! Trust me it helps! Like get in forums and chats and blogs and on etsy teams! Best wishes if you try it i'm sure you'll do well!

  11. I wanted to know if any one uses real fruits or veggies in their soaps?! You know like Strawberries, Banana's, Avacado's or Cucumbers?! If so how would you go about adding it to CPHP or CP? I want to try it since i now have the CPHP down (i'll post pics of my first try soon as i get my slicer, lol..tomorrow YEAH!!) I thought adding a little bit of something real would add more benifits. Specialy with Advacado's..... Would i need to take away a % of something since i'm adding it, or would it be added just like an additive after the trace process?! Also would i need to use something so it won't be rancid?! If so what?! Thanks a Million:p
  12. thanks sooo much...i like that tutorial.... i went ahead with what i knew from studying and made my first batch this morning, glad to say it all went well!! i stuck with a simple palm oil, olive oil & coconut oil recipe...it gave me a small 3lb batch..and it all went well...i saw trace had no zap and now its chillin, lol... ..i'm so excited to see how it turns out in a few days!...i didnt trust doing goats milk, call me a scaredy cat! and i left it with no color.... thanks for the patient help ladies..
  13. thank you ladies...i didn't want to start until i got those responses! also do anyone know if can sub...palm oil (not pko) just palm oil with canola or safflower oil? also sub castor oil with mineral oil?
  14. i finally got my lye today and will be making my first batch of CPHP soap tomorrow... i'm extra excited!! i have few last minute questions though.... How do i go about adding Powdered Goatsmilk? or would it be best to use Condenced in a can? how would i do that with water calculations? I was kindly given a 4lb recipe but i want to only use 2lb recipe to start off, if i cut the calculations in half, like if someone says oh use 16oz of this and 12oz of that...is it ok to cut it in half to make the batch smaller? how much EO do you know to use? i never got that... someone once told me you can use crayon chips to dye...is that true? last but not least how would i use a CP recipe when doing CPHP?curious to know other than those question i've done all my reading, got my materials and i'm ready to go!! a bit nervous..but i hope to do good thanks for the help...
  15. Hello ladies i have another questions for those who do soaping. Whether it's CP or HP i hope you can chime in on the topic! When you are given a list of Soap Ingredients & recipes is it MANDITORY to use and purchase the products from a soaping supplier? OR is it ok to use ingredients you find in the store? Example: I have a wholesale organic food store that's in my area and they sale the same things (i.e canola oil, rice bran oil, safflower oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, chea butter even dried herbs) that you can order on a website for a much more reasonable price and i don't have to pay shipping either! Is it ok to do that? or is there some big secretive difference in what you order online? I want to think if what i'm making are organic bath & body products why not use it straight out the organic store? Can anyone help me out on this topic b/c i'm really dumbfounded on it?! Thanks a million!
  16. I have dozens of books and have been updating myself on it... i just find it better and more helpful when you get other people's experiences on it, you know? For some reason it just makes me build a little more confidence knowing "ok someone else did this and got it right!", lol.... Would you say that CP is easier than HP?
  17. i was doing re-batching and sometime melt & pour...which of course doesn't use lye.... i'm ready to step it up and make the soap from scratch....i just don't want to mess up... i know i'll have trial & error but i don't want too much error, lol.. So it's pretty much best to use more hard oils than soft?
  18. I'm not new to soaping but i'm very new to the Hot Process method. If some could help me out in this your an angel in my book!! As far as the hard oils go....is it manditory?? Like what if i wanted to substitute one hard oil for a soft oil is that ok? For example... i want to use Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Safflower oil & Coconut oil for my soft oils and Shea Butter as my hard oil....... is that do-able? Also how do i do calculations to make sure i'm not using too much or too little? I ABSOLUTLY suck @ math and i have no clue to how to weigh out correctly My loaf molds hold up to 64oz's and i'm doing 4oz bars and i'm using a crock pot... Thanks to anyone that can help!
