  1. And ya get a goodie bag! Don't forget the goodie bag! Even I was impressed with the goodie bag! And Nancy's right. You can just come to watch and listen. But you do have to speak to somebody! Dianna is a peach. Southern Garden Scents (formerly Tony's) has been a trooper each year. We actually had other vendors lined up to come but, one by one, they canceled for economic reasons. Disappointing but understandable. Next year things will be better and there will be much more available.:smiley2: So I do hope you will consider it. Being onlt 4 hours away, I'm surprise you weren't there this year! eta: We want to keep the registration fee as low as we can to make it affordable for everyone and we'll work on keeping it that way every year.
  2. Nancy, that's because I put it in there wrong (and can't find the edit option?) Shows ya how web-savvy I am Try this one: 2010 TNCSC
  3. Sorry your show turned out to be a 'bahm'. I have found, though, that most organizers will listen to constructive critique. They need to know you were not happy with the way things were run but also why. They could not have done anything about the weather but there were those that were controlable. If they are receptive, you have the chance help all potential crafter attendees and possibly help to make it a productive show. If the show had 3 years behind it, could it be that this particular group was not the one to put in charge? If that is the case, "go over their heads" and let it be known.
  4. And I am going to make my 1st candle from the little kit we got in the goodie bags!!!!!! :yay: I am so excited! Surely yall felt that way sometime in the past, eh? I really am excited about it. I am even going to add some of the coconut oil we got and use an EO. I'm takin' it to the max. huh. hahahahah Nancy, you can take a look-see right here: 2010 TNSCS And you'll already know how to get there! But I may see you again in July. Need a roomie?
  5. If you are going to use a blend, you might want to make the blend first and let it set a day or 2 so that you are sure you like it. A blend can change a bit after some time.
  6. Did we not have a great time!?!! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this year! And I actually got to spend time with people this year. NancyT makes some awesome candles yall! They are beautiful and I can't wait to burn mine! Even my husband was looking it over and was amazed at how it was done...and I don't make candles!
  7. This is great! Thank you all so much! I guess there is more to the actual learning of candle making than I thought. These suggestions will help tremendously in planning for 2010. Jane, I do remember you and wish I had had more time to spend getting to know you. I'm sorry you can't be there this year but hope you get to come again. Mike & Todd from Alabaster were the greatest, weren't they, Jane?! I enjoyed there demos along with their antics. I asked them back this year but the economics of the time...sigh...has effected them. They are staying close to home as are alot of people. If yall haven't before, support them & purchase from Alabaster. They are top-notch and I would sure hate to lose them! As for Tennessee Candle, surprisingly enough we have never gotten any response from them about anything in any year. I am not sure why. VIckie, we'd love to have you one year. Just say the word! :smiley2: This was my initial thought. I would never, ever ask anyone to share trade secrets, not candlemakers or soapmakers. But, Judy, This is an excellent idea and I will most definately consider it in planning our next get-together.Thanks again and I will keep an eye on this thread for a while just in case anyone would like to add their .
  8. First off I want to say that it is not my intent to step on any toes. I love you all! I need some help and I don't know a better place to go for it. Many of you know that I am involved with the organization of the TN meets. Even though this year's hasn't happened yet, 2010's is already being thought about. The original intent was to include both soap and candle makers because they entwine at so many points. To do that, there needs to be demos, or the like, in both areas. Several candlemakers have been approached to demo but all have declined, the most often given statement being about not wanting to share what they've worked so hard to get. I admit that I am strictly a soapmaker & know nothing about making candles. But am I wrong in assuming that the basics of candle making are just that - basic? Have I just not asked the 'right' people? Is there some other aspects of candle making that could be addressed that wouldn't be 'secrets' and would be a learning session for yall? I'd appreciate your input on this matter because I am stumped.
  9. Time is drawing near for our get-together and we are really looking forward to it! We have made an important decision that will effect you. We have had numerous inquiries all mentioning the desire to attend the 2009 TNSCS but finances not permitting it. So many are in that same situation and we feel that we need to make a change. Hopefully by doing so the trip will become more affordable to everyone. We are going to bypass the catered luncheon and in doing so we can reduce the attendance fee to $35. There are numerous places within a stone’s throw of the lodge that provide a variety of menus that will suit everyone and their budget.
  10. They are beautiful!!!! But I have to ask - Doesn't working with those small seams make your hands hurt?
  11. I am really excited about this year's TNSCS! If you ever wanted to know about EOs, it's the place you want to be. It will be in Franklin at the Elks Lodge again this year. Tish Pearl from The Scent Works! is coming to share her proficiency of Essential oils. A local herbal alchemist is coming to speak and has a depth of knowledge to share! Twelve Corners Our guest aromatherapist has taught an Aromatherapy 101 class locally and is a candlemaker for his own practice in Nashville. Body Basics With our Show & Tell and other features, it's sure to be something you won't want to miss! I do hope many of you can come! :whoohoo: 2009 Tennessee Soap and Candle Social
  12. I use it in my body powder blend and wouldn't do without it! It is fine & makes it flow nicely.
  13. This sounds like a great blend! I love basil...sigh:laugh2:
  14. OMG! I didn't see these pics before my PC crashed! :tiptoe: Take 'em down! Take 'em down! Like I said in the other thread, I am so glad yall came and had such a great time! ...And I guess I am kinda looking forward to next year too. But does everyone live so far away? Nothing says we can't do a mini-meet before next year...hm-m-m-m-m?
  15. ( :embarasse I know yall think this bird just flew the coop but that's not true! My PC died 2 days after and I have been struggling with getting things back to par! A word of advice - If you run any of your biz off your PC, BACK IT UP NOW!!!! I have lost sales and possible an account because of not being able to access my records!) Thank yall so much!! I am so glad yall enjoyed it! It was hard doing it alone but worth every minute! I thought our demos and vendors were the greatest. I appreciate them so much. And what a goodie bag! How many lbs did those weigh?! Tell me what yall got cause I never did get to look in a finished one.
  16. Did we not have a blast?! I am just sorry it was for only 1 day! And I wanted to be in the pot for a number of those doorprizes...like one of Alabaster's GCs and Shelia's P-Base:drool: It was fun to meet everyone and I am so glad yall had a good time! :highfive: Stay in touch!
  17. (Thanks Kim)Whatcha need to know about the swaps? We were hoping to offer something for every one. The "Candles in Color" was to touch those who had at least a little experience and "For Newbies Only", well, like it says "the name says it all"!
  18. I KNEW that was YOU when I saw the "cupboard"!! It's me and I'll get back with you soon!
  19. I know this won't help much :embarasse but I just think it's cool - Sunfeather soaps has a big bench display that comes with a soap cutter. The lady ordered the logs as needed. There used to be a shop in the next town over that had one. It was so cool. I wish I had had the thought to ask about buying it when I found out she was going out of business. But come to think of it, the bench could have been leased. But I guess that proves it can be done, huh?
  20. I gotta jump in and shamelessly plug the Tennessee one and say that we'd love to have all of you come. With that being said, I want to go to both ISOCAN and the Alabama soap meeting.
