  1. Wow! Congratulations on having such GREAT sales, must have made a good name for yourself already!!
  2. Called to check on buying direct from IGI. They say I have to order at least 24,000 lbs annually to be a customer, oh,and the price break wasn't much unless I order 10 or more pallets at a time. Oh and each order is a minimum of 2 pallets. but, I did see that nuscents candles is 2.5 hours away, an acceptable driving time, and they carry IGI and also Cargill Naturewax, which I have been wanting to try too, so maybe I will just get it from them. GRR this shipping is just killing me, and its about to go UP again!!
  3. Yeah, I could pick it up there, I mapped it on Yahoo maps though, and its more like 4.5-5 hours away. I have a friend about an hour from there, so maybe could go for a visit. I'm going to call IGI direct today and see if they are willing to work with me. As far as splitting the pallet with other candlemakers, that's a great idea. If I so this, am I allowed to post on these boards about it??
  4. it's not so bad...just explain to your sister what you already told her, and what was in the brochure, and the people who ordered what you do not offer, can change their order. If I had ordered something and was told to look again at the brochure, it wasn't available, I would just choose something else. You can't be everything to everyone. Just be true to yourself. You are doing the right thing, and i think 10 scents are plenty to choose from.
  5. My business partner has a pick-up and trailer, or if that won't work we could rent a Uhaul just for the day. Renting a truck locally doesn't cost very much.
  6. Yeah, I have looked into that, but the shipping is still almost 15.00 per 50# case at that. that adds .30 per pound to my wax cost!! I think I will bite the bullet and get a pallet, if they will let me pick it up and eliminate the shipping altogether.
  7. I once burned a jar candle from a big company on my coffee table. It burned all the way down, then went out. Later when I went to throw the jar away, there was a HUGE black burn mark on my NEW coffee table. I was NOT impressed. Better to leave a little wax in the bottom!!
  8. I am kind of in the same boat. I have been getting some cauliflower looking candles, etc, with the soy I have been using, both in containers and in my votive blend. I am testing a soy/parrafin blend right now, and am liking it, but the cost of the wax, plus shipping will be way too high. I have ordered in some parrafin samples, and am going to try my own blend, since I can get the parrafin right here by me. I'm thinking I may need to add stearic acid for votives, but right now, everyone seems to want me to make jar candles anyways, so thats where I'm concentrating on getting the right combo. I don't want to pour anymore straight soy, too frustrated with it!!
  9. I'm wondering if anyone here has bought wax direct from IGI. I live about 10 miles from one of their warehouses, and the closest place I can order from is about 2.5 hours away. Shipping from them on a 55 lb case of wax is 17.00. I know I could get it a little cheaper by ordering more at one time, but I could also order direct and pick it up myself. Does anyone know if I would have to order more than one pallet at a time from them. I am planning to call on Monday to find out, but just thought someone here might know. TIA
  10. what i llike about the way my votives burn is, they make a melt pool all the way across first, then begin to spill over into the votive cup, and melt down nice and even. They leave very little residue on the cup, burns almost 100% of the wax, except for a tiny bit at the bottom, and do not smoke. Also, they can fill a large room with scent if I just place a few around the room. HTH
  11. my votives seem to burn very nicely in a tight fitting container. I use the Ecosoya VB and use either an RRD 34 or 37 depending on the FO I am using. Votives are supposed to be burned in a tight holder, I have seen them referred to as a container candle without the container. HTH
  12. when you do your second pour (specifically on votives) how do you remelt the wax? I have been using pyrex glass measuring cups as pour pots, so have been zapping them in the microwave at 50% power to melt them, then doing my second pour. Is this okay? Any reason not to? And for those of you using the aluminum pour pots, how are you melting that wax, or are you just keeping it hot? Thanks
  13. I think you have to keep in mind that you are making quality hand poured candles, and you are not competing with Walmart. I think if people want junk candles, let them go to walmart, but to me, $6 seems like a good deal. jmho
  14. Congrats! WOW did you have to do something to get mentioned? That is SO awesome for you!! It would have been nice to put in pics though, cuz I've seen some of your pics in the gallery, and they do look GREAT!!
  15. I have also been using the pyrex glass measuring cups. can anyone tell me if its okay to zap the wax for my second pour in the microwave? I have been doing it at 50% power (just to top off my votives) otherwise, how are you all remelting the wax for the second pour? TIA:p
  16. I've ordered from them once, shipped out quickly and all, no problems.
  17. MC has a butter rum crunch. She has it on special for the month of January. Haven't tried it, but have tried other scents of hers and they are good. HTH
