  1. Finally getting some good andles accumalated! I have yet another one. It is a 4" Apothercary jar, 3" high. I used CB135, and 9% FO. So far so good! So that's two with this same formula. The first that did good was a 3" apothecary jar. Anyway.... it feels so good when the test burns come out. 2nd candle has tested wonderfully!!!!!!
  2. K I am on my second candle and 3rd burn time and it's actually doing very well! Yay! I did 8% Cierra's Candles Mulberry, 92% CB135 and two drops of mulberry liquid dye. Heated to 175 (by accident) and poured at 150. Container is 3x3. Great smell, good flame, no soot, flcikering! Finally! Just had to brag!
  3. I do like cb135. It adheres well the the container I am using. Holds scent well and color. No I haven't tried smaller, yes. I just got in CD10's yesterday so I melted the candle down and will re-wick it with that tomorrow and see how well that goes. I have a mulberry one I did two days ago, test burned it this morning. Seems to be doing fine, no smoke, great scent. I may just stick with CD10's.
  4. Alright. I am getting PO'd! So I am seeking to the experts for advice. I have a small apothecary jar, 3 inches wide, 3" tall. Using CB135. I have tried cd8(left hang up on sides) HTP83(hang up on sides) Lx22 (wick burnt out) CD12 (smoke, too large flame) so now I am back at CD10 (I wish they made a CD9). The flame is ok. Flickering a little bit but no smoke. When wick is trimmed no flickering. I think my house has drafts everywhere ( I am currently wearing 2 sweatshirt and mittens as I type this . Good thing new house is being built). Would you accept this? The other day I went to a candle store (major name- not mentioning it) the other day just to browse and asked the woman if she was knowledgable about candles and she said yes. I told her I had bought a candle from someone else and the flame flickered. She said as long as there was no soot and the flame was not out of control that trimming the wick should keep the problem down. What do you think?
  5. just curious as to what your prefs are. I am working with CD and HTP and not having much luck.
  6. So is it only drafts that can cause flickering? Because like I said there is no smoking, and no soot on the jars so i am assuimng it isn't a wicking problem. That's one thing I am happy about at least. And I know that even though we don't feel a draft, flame is really sensitive. I was going to try to invent something but not sure how to do it. I would have to leave enough air space and opening for the candle to get air without a draft. Hmm...
  7. Not really. Had a headache for awhile. Not sure if that was from the FO or the fainting! I did have a sore throat too. Seem to be ok now. It's funny, it's so easy to forget you are actually working with chemicals that could be potentially hazardous.
  8. So I was making candles the other day. I love lilies so I bought Lily of the valley. I melt the wax, add white to color it and went to measure the FO in a paper cup. Once measured, like the dork I am, I took a big sniff (because like I said, I love Lilies!) and it burnt my lung. So I'm standing there , in the same room with the Fo, not once thinking to leave the room to catch my breath, Coughing, coughing more, trying to breath... turned around and THUD! I fainted. Obviously to a lack of oxygen or something. I woke up almost instantly, my head twisted up against the counter and got up. Left the room for about ten minutes, tied a towel around my face, returned to the kitched. Dumped the FO back into the bottle, turned off my burner and rested for about 6 hours. Has this happened to anyone else or am I just a retard? LOL.
  9. OK so I haven't been on here for awhile because I have been making and testing candles. I seem to be doing ok. I am not sure if it is just my house (which is really, REALLY cold) (poorly insulation:( ) but when I first light my candle it flickers until it gets a MP of about 3/4 of the jar. There is no soot or smoke so I am assuimg it is not the candle itself. Am I wrong. And should I worry about this. I can understand if it did it constantly it could be a problem. Thanks a bunch!
