  1. I got some 4630 from Lonestar Candle Supply and cookies n cream FO from them. I was making a batch tonight and wanted to do half white half dark brown so I added the scent first, it didn't blend into the wax. I stirred for 3 minutes then re heated. I heated to 175 and still no change. Does this wax need to be heated higher? Not sure what's going on with it. I used 8% FO.
  2. Helps a lot Angie, thanks. I want to do some for myself, and then I want to make some for my mommy (lol) for mom's day because she likes teddy bears.
  3. Can I use any parrafin wax or what do I need to use? I have seen these on the net and want some for my own home.
  4. Stubborn. But I am not a Taurus. Are Scorpios stubborn too? Yep. I think so actually. When I think i am right, no one else matters, lol and I rarely compromise. Poor Husband, can you imagine what he goes through, LOL.
  5. No. Made him drink two glasses of milk just in case. Yes, I realize they are poison and his health was my upmost concern. But I couldn't help laughing. Tried convincing him he should call poison control he swears he's fine. Regardless, I won't get much sleep tonight because I am sure I will be awake, laying there on on my side facing him, staring to make sure he's still breathing. I think I have said sorry over 500 times today I swear. Both here and in person to him.
  6. I didn't get this candle right off, BTW. I actually had to put it away for awhile. This was my 8th re-formulaton (is that a word?) In other words..... it was my 8th try, different combo of wicks, wax, temps, and so on. In no way shape or form was I implying I got it first try. Just had to clarify before the drama starts.
  7. So... how your candles do is based on your sign. Hmmm. Interesting. I'm a scorpio. What's that say about me?
  8. Husbands, don't ya love them??? So I was on the computer about 30 minutes ago and heard my husband gagging in the living room. I thought he was choking so I ran in ready to do the hymlick (sp) manuever..... He had a PB & J sandwich in his hand and was standing in front of the TV and looking like he was going to throw up. I asked him what was wrong and he said his sandwich tasted funny and told me to smell it. So I did and got a faint familiar smell of Aloe Vera. I asked him where he made his sandwich and he said in the kitchen. I started laughing and couldn't stop even though it's really not funny. I asked him if he layed the bread on the counter and he nodded. I hadn't yet washed off the counter from my last batch and probably spilled some FO on the counter. I got distracted by this board. LOL. So all in all.... moral of my story is......... always wash the counter immediatly!
  9. LOL. I have tested yet another candle that has passed four test burns! Yay! I used CB135 again..... 9% Cierra's Grandpa's Pipe FO.... Small 8 oz. Apothecary jar, bubble lid. I thought the FO stunk myself when it was in the bottle bust as it burns it turns into a sweet, cherry musky scent. Nice. Just had to brag after the day I have had...... LOL
  10. yup, that is it. Thanks Vicky!!!!! I knew it had something to do with making rings but wasn't sure.
  11. Is there any way to get a swirled look to the wax?
  12. Yeah my husband was pretty pissed too. Stupid move, I admit that one so you can't badger me this time!!!!!! LMAO...(walks away and hides behind the corner)(I'm not a moron by the way)
  13. Or here's a thought. let's just drop the subject all together. I don't care if you think I am the Boogey Man, as long as we can chat about candles. What is the point of making someone else look like a dumbshit. Does that make you all feel good? If so, you have dull lives.
  14. LOL. I understand that. But people can't move? Is that what you are trying to tell me? We were neighbors while we were waiting for our house to be built. We lived in a rinky dink apartment building. My hubby and I just moved in to our new home 3 days before Christmas. As I stated in yet another post. I don't know what TiffTiff told you all. She could have told you she has three legs and 14 kids for all I know. I am not responsible for what she posted. Maybe she lied, maybe she is trying to keep her real info hidden. I DON'T KNOW. But most of you are insinuating that I am all of these people, and are basically trying to badger me into admitting I am, and I am not going to do it, nor does it have anything to do with candle making. So I guess I will have to go back and search all of her posts as well as this honeybear73 so I know what I am, and what I am not being accused of saying.
  15. BTW - The point of me stating roughly what I made was that I would enjoy more if it came, however it came. It was not to mock, harrass, annoy or anything else. Sorry I mentioned it. But when my words get taken out of context I have a right to stand up for myself and will not allow someone to bully me, or twist my words into what they wanted to hear, or read in this instance. I got it. Should have kept my mouth shut. I am just not sure what I am allowed to post then. No questions, no opinions, no "dreams' of a candle future. And it really sucks too because this is an awesome board. And I enojoy coming here. Most of you are very educated on candles and I appreciate your replies (when they pertain to the actual post) and advice and don't take it for granted. So I guess in the future all my posts will be "I agree" "Use the search feature" "LOL" and so on?
  16. Do I have to spell it out in Candle wax????? I DO NOT KNOW SUDS_N_FLAMEZ! ONE MEETING. IT WAS MAYBE 5 MINUTE TALK IF THAT. Which I doubt. Long enough to exchange names. That was before I ever thought of making them myself. Candles weren't even mentioned. And I don't even remember the chic's name. DO YOU KNOW EVERYONE YOUR FRIENDS KNOW? My brothers and sisters know people I don't know.
  17. Here's another for you.... if you all are so smart, so successful and have the candle biz down.... and hate people who ask for advice what the hell are you doing on a forum about making candles? You all freak out when someone answers a question and constantly come back with "use the search feature", which I actually do all the time but sometimes a live response is better, there is no need for you to come here. Oh! Can't forget the constant badgering if GOD FORBID you know someone else on the board. It must be tiresome...
  18. I know you are mocking me and it really doesn't matter. Your opinions and side comments don't bother me. I met the Suds_n_Flamez lady through Tiffany but would not call it a friendship or even an aqquaitance. We met once, briefly. AS far as the other lady.... not sure who that is? If she is from Lewiston or Clarkston, maybe. If not then no. Tiffany and I grew up together but live in separate towns in separate states.Hey here's a thought..why don't we talk about making candles.... that is what the board is for, right?
  19. Thank you FunFlames for all of your replies, they were very kind. Apparently I misunderstood the meaning of this board. I thought it was to come and get advice, share ideas, read and laugh at other people's mistakes (and I have had many!) and so on. You can be guaranteed that I won't ask any more questions... because of the fear of getting badgered or called a reject. I was asking people if they had businesses going and how they got them going. No where in any of my posts did I say i was going to get rich quick or jump right in and push out a 1000 candles a week. In the future means.... in the future. As I CLEARLY stated in my original thread, I know I am no where near that point. Nor do I count on candles being my sole income. Luckily, my husband has a good job and that allows for me to make candles. I wouldn't be doing them otherwise. And I am not working with 100 types of candles or projects. I wa working with ONE WAX, CB135. If you look back like I know you'll do... most of my posts are about CB135. I touched other waxes and knew I was getting over my head so I went back. I just started with J223. Not working on anything else. I am not poverty level by the way. You response was a family of three on $20,000 a yr is still poverty. Well if you combine both mine and my husbands we make well over that. Thanks to all who have replied in support of my thread. It's appreciated.
  20. Not all of us can be doctors, lawyers and state paid asses that sit at a desk and get paid millions to do nothing! We liove in a very small community....... very very small.
  21. Can I ask a question.. why are ya all so rude? I mean not just a little bit rude but just down right nasty at times. Did I say I was wanting to get rich fast? NO! Did I say I wanted to make this a full time job? NO! Did I say I was going to quit my full time job? NO! What I did say was that I wanted to make some profit off my candles at some point. Hell it can be ten years down the road and I would happy. I said I wanted more. I would be quite happy making my candles and still working full time, and being able to sell them to our community, which I have gotten great feed back because the only candles available here in are town are Wal*Mart candles which are generic and they don't have soy. At this time, with the economy the way it is, MOST OF US are at poverty level. Which actually I am not because my husband is currently at $67,000. That's why I have the money available to do the candles and if they don't work out it is not a total loss. I make OVER $20, 000 a year, almost $30,000.
  22. So I went to bed, frustrated as hell about my candles not throwing out alot of scent, as most of you know from my other posts. But then the DH and I got up early because he had to take his vehicle into the shop and I had to give him a ride back, I lit my Secret Crush J223 candle before we left. I know you're not supposed to leave them alone but I did (probably not smart) because I knew we wouldn't be gone long. Anyway... when we walked back into the house the whole house was filled with the scent! Silly me.
  23. I don't know about her friend getting married. Not sure which one she is talking about???? I have been married for 6 years so I don't think it was me. As for her husband and her having a U haul business, they do. But they just got married, unless she was calling him her husband even though technically they weren't yet. But even then he would be a fiancee, not hubby, Shrugs shoulders, not sure. I don't know what she told you before she introduced me to the board, nor do I care. I am here to talk about candles, seek advice and share my stories. Not trying to be rude but I'm not responsible for what someone else has posted here, whether be truth or fabricated. Anyway.... this post should obviously be deleted because it is totally off toppic from what I was wanting.
  24. She has never used J223. She's been counting on me to experiment with it and give her the recipes, LOL! I know she uses 4630 a lot and soy. A LOT OF SOY. She has offered her advice and expertise but her famous saying is.... "If I do it for you then you're not doing it" (rollseyes) She just got married and was on her honeymoon is probably why she is not on much. She is back now and I love her dearly for all the advice she has given me. She has given me all of her Pillar/Molds and 4630 recipes that's why I don't post much about them. I have just ventured off into the unknown land of wax I guess. I'm not anywhere near business either. I just hate to waste the wax. I will just put it away for now and go beat my head on the counter. LOL. I was working with 3 waxes at a time when I started this. I couldn't handle it and went back down to one, soy. I wanted a break from it and had a few formulas I was happy with, plus the ones that she offered up. So I moved on to J223. Not sure that was smart. Anyway Vio, thanks for the reply. I'll figure something out I guess.
