Thanks this is very helpful.....makes me want to start purchasing some samples and begin testing. Kandlekrazy and FlightofFancy are you both using Soy? If so which kind? I'm using C3.
In addition to the scents I listed previously from CS, I'd also be looking for replacements for the following so if you've tried any of these, I'd love to hear your feedback.
Thx
banana nut bread
cranberry marmalade
hansel and gretel's house
lovespell
mistletoe
spice wassail
vanilla hazelnut
wildberry mousse
Bert's Raspberry Brulee is very similar to CS Wildberry Mousse to my nose, and threw GREAT for me in 50/50...hth!

That "bad batches" of wax would be a thing of the past and we could all pour with confidence in our formulas never changing!!! (unless we want them to!!) OH! and LOTS of repeat customers, of course!!!
-
I have (do)...they work great
Thanks Beth! I love CS-prices, shipping, etc...and would like to use them for more of my supplies...but they don't carry CD's, which is what I use now...I am running low-have enough to get me thru Christmas season, then may want to test the ECO's...CS has a great wicking tool on their site to help get you started w/ choices...
-
...does anyone use this combo??
Thanks!

I have definately found that when I have a batch of orders to pour (I also pour to order) it has helped me tremendously to figure out ahead of time how many of ea. scent: # of jars, weight of wax, weight of oil...write it all down ahead of time...then I weigh out ea. oil (I have individual glass containers for ea. scent that are labeled) and line them up. Wick my jars, write which wick is in ea. underneath in case I am pouring scents that need wicking up, so the jars don't get mixed up. I also have multiple pour pots going, and keep rotating them, I use similar scents/colors in the same pour pots...and I am fortunate enough to have a huge 150# melter, so my wax is always ready to go...

Has anyone tried the Cinnamon Styx? I really want a Red Hot Candies smell. The description says it's not quite like that. Anyone have results yet in soy? TIA
LOVE the Candy Cane and Christmas Tree! OMG the Vanilla Latte is PERFECT!
Try mixing the Vanilla Latte w/ a Pumpkin and a bit of cinnamon for a great Pumpkin Spiced Latte!!

Yay!!! I just placed my order with Roberta!!! Can't wait!!!!
Here's what I got for use with C3.
Cinnamon Styx
Clean Cotton
Christmas Tree
Candy Cane
Lemon Biscotti Pie
Christmas Pear
Columbian Coffee
Fresh Air
I wanted to take advantage of the shipping and got the 16 oz. I know this is going to be much more than I need right now, but I have the money to spend on it and think this is best.
Question...what is the best way to store FO's? In a cold cellar? Someplace dark I'd think?
Yes, cool, and dry, and dark is good. I am gathering amber glass bottles at the prodding of my GF, as this is the BEST way to have them keep the longest...good for your fav or best selling scents that you have around all the time...

Bumping this up for you....maybe the scent could be mixed (and it sounds yummy!), but I've no idea where you'd get the flavor oil...a good friend of mine here uses Oregon Trails, I believe, for her lip balm flavors... maybe you could check there?
HTH!

One of my customers here at work has gotten lots of candles from the Candle Barn, I'd never heard of it (I am very sheltered and even though I am close by, I've only been to parts of Lancaster a few times...lol...)
Anyway, the thing she dwelled on the most when talking about their jars, was the SOOT.
She also said that there is like, a LOT of smoke lingering in the air IN the store?!!? She said she thought ALL candles burned that way!!!

Thanks for the reviews, Sally! It's neat what your son said about the Jack Frost!

The hazelnut cappuccino is really good as well, actually now selling better than vanilla latte for me. Boy it's hard to guess what will take off! Lemon Biscotti is still #1.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind for her, wonder if she likes the Hazelnut? It's not a scent I am crazy about, actually.... is it a touch or the top note, would you say?

Got my Bert's Fo's today :yay:
WOW........OOB there are some absolutely gorgeous scents here! I can't wait to get them in Soaps and Wax to see how they hold.
Gardenia smells just like my bottle of Monoi....just gorgeous!
Cashmere is another beautiful scent
As is Tea Leaf & Grapefruit and also Jasmine!
Andes Thin Mints you could drink it smells so dead on.
Christmas tree is perfect OOB...hope it smells the exact same in wax as it isn't an obnoxious overpowering christmas tree scent.
I posted all the ones I ordered up above and I plan on soaping a bunch of these in CP and will post my results.
I just love the Christmas Tree as do the couple of GF's of mine that have sniffed it...it is a nice clean, sweet-ish pine scent, not overpowering at all, IMO...
I have to get more Lemon Biscotti from her and check my supply of Vanilla Latte...ooooh!!! I just remembered! I wanted to ask you all which of her coffees would you recommend--I have a request for a Cappucino...?????

Latest tester of Bert's~ Exotixc Teak...MAN! Poured this one LATE last night, and WOW! Great throw, can cut back on this one too! I don't think it'll have to be wicked up on... it is a NICE scent!!! (In 50/50 CD wicks, BTW...)
Great job, Bert!!

Type of Soy or Soy Blend you use? Farmhouse 50/50
Additives if any? None
Preferred dyes? Blocks
Preferred wick (Not sizes)? CD
Pouring temp you recommend? I add FO at 165', stir very well, and pour, room temp containers, which this time of year are pretty cool in my basement!
What you do to prevent frosting? Slow cool in covered styro. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.
What you do to prevent rough tops? Don't get them.
Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? No, they're usually minimal, and I don't sweat them much.
**Informative thread!**

I blend my own, but make it more of a cinnamon cider as I dislike the citrus part, lol, but I am sure you could make your own! I use a Cinna-crunch, and Bert's Apple Cinnamon, which to me is more of a fresh apple cider smell more than a cinnamon apple smell...to me this makes an awesome cider!!

here's my take on them in pure soy. i used 1.5oz.pp.
hazelnut creme- super strong can definately use less.
vanilla pods- med/strong throw smells like a wonderful creme brulee to me.
cedar spice wood- smelled weak to me oob, but once in wax it just blooms has a strong throw.
spiced pumpkin nectar- pure yuck in a bottle. once it is put in wax it is just wonderful. love it. strong throw.
mint leaf & chamomile- i have not burned this one yet. cold throw is super strong. not real sure of it.
white peach & hibiscus- i have not burned this one yet. cold throw is strong.
fireside tea now renamed cinnamon & spice & everything nice- med/strong throw, love it. it's a very warm comforting scent.
Carol, I was bummed about the Mint Leaf and Chamomile because OOB it smells so much like mint from the garden, I was so excited at how authentic it smelled! Once poured, it smelled more like an herbal mix, I guess the chamomile came out...and I no longer liked it....
I am glad you are having good luck with all of those oils, though!

Good post, thanks!

Brighter Scents carries this, it's quite nice...

I wanted to find this myself awhile back, and this was what I found out...I haven't heard whether or not she had any luck getting it, though... she had PM'd me that she was shooting for June, but that was the last I heard... I love this one as well...

I have a sample of one of her newest vanillas in my workshop, and OOB, it smelled VERY nice, I am gonna test it, I think in a jar, and I will post my resluts....have to check on the name, too...:rolleyes2

New Directions' Vanilla is the best I've ever used, bar none!
Uh-Oh, a supplier I've never heard offf...I may be in trouble!! lol!
Do you have their web addy? Thanks!

I can't seem to be satisfied with any of the vanillas I've tried...I am melting a tart right now (Flicker's Vanilla Supreme) and I THOUGHT I really liked this one, but in a melt, it smells so artificial! (I think it smells better burning, and I have a regular customer who loves it in a jar) but, DARN! I am not liking it at ALL in a melt!!! It's so hard for me to go by OOB, cause to my nose, a LOT of the vanillas smell soooo fake that way... Is it possible that I should lighten up a bit on the load?? Would that help?
What do you all LOVE???
