  1. Sweet almond may make it feel a bit greasier. You could also try olive oil. It's great for the skin and not overly $$ when you are testing.

Iffin you really wanna play, add a small amount of castor with some of the safflower.

  2. I think it's fate...I'm in the process of using this recipe and come acrosss this post :yay:. (can you tell I have a stupid question?)

What I'm wondering is whether I can use BC's bath and body colorants with this? I want to start with Pink Sugar and Lilac, but want them to have some sort of color.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Sara

As long as it is bath & body safe you should be fine. Remember though, some FOs can discolor your lotions as well as soaps. I use aluminum bottles and don't color my lotions for that reason. One less ingredient, more label room, and it won't show through the aluminum.;)

  3. For all of you who are new to CP soaping, I thought I would post this here.

Most of the ingredients you can find in your local grocery store.

It makes a nice soap that doesn't break the budget.

    KISS=Keep It Simple Stupid! ;)

    25% Lard

    25% Olive

    25% Sunflower OR Safflower

    25% PKO-(or a combo of it and coconut, but don't exceed 25%)

  4. I use FBB right now & make it mostly for myself. I am in the process of trying to make my own Foaming Facial Scrub. However, you could do an emulsifying scrub and add the scrubbies that way.

What oils/butters do you have on hand at present?

That makes it a bit easier to help you come up with a formula to use.

  5. If you want to try soy wax in one, take a standard lotion bar recipe and sub out 5% beeswax & 5% hard butter with soy wax.

Make a small batch and keep good notes. Let it firm up and try it. If you want it harder add the 5% butter back in. Let it firm up and try again. Then keep adjusting and adding to your notes til you get what you want. Then add some FO.

  6. I use coffee butter in a body butter. The scent does come through somewhat so you gotta pick an FO that blends well with it.

Black cocoa butter is nice in bath melts, especially around Valentine's day. Some scent will come through, but i always enhance that with some FO.

Kokum is my favorite butter. I like it much better than Cocoa. However, the general public doesn't "know" Kokum, but they do know Cocoa.

Gotta work on educating the general public on the benefits of butters besides Cocoa.

  7. I have very sensitive skin and I wouldn't dare try my soap on my skin. I use my BF for that. I did use it on my hands and I can say I do not like the all olive oil soap. It's slimy! YUK! I can see why most don't make it that way. BUT, it was my first successful CP and I am proud of it. IT didn't break me out, but I don't want my body to feel slimy. I did have bubbles though, and no lye present. :yay:

Put it away for about 3 months. Then get it back out and try it!

It MAY not be quite as slimy as it is now. AND if you need to knock someone out, just wail a bar at them!:yay:
