  1. I have used it in CP soap. Turns a very pale tan which you could probably counteract with a bit of TD. It behaves beautifully with a 33% solution.

It is divine in scrubs and soon I will know what it's like in a whipped butter.

Haven't tried it in wax yet. But Im pretty new to wax though.

  2. how do I add honey and goats milk to my recipe?

and I want to put oatmeal in too and on top

    Any suggestions??

People love my OMH MP so I gotta make this in CP

    TY TY TY

Depends on whether it is liquid GM or powdered. If powdered you can add it to your oils at up to 1 TB per pound of oils. Stickblend in really well before you add your lye water.

Oatmeal-grind it up fine and add 1 tsp per pound of oils. You can add that to your oils before the lye or after you add your lye before you hit trace, then add the oatmeal.

Honey-I add it to my oils and stick blend in really well before I add my lye milk.

  3. Haven't personally tried them myself but you would need the SAP for them...

Bear Tallow Sap Value: NAOH SAP Value 0.139

    KOH SAP Value 0.1946

    Dunno on the other 2

ETA: Have you ever rendered tallow? Not to discourage you, but those may REAK when you do them. I don't know as I haven't ever rendered them, just rendered beef tallow and that was enough. I'll buy it first already rendered!

  4. THE ONE! Testing different wicks to find the right wick once I decide on the right wax. I have half burned jars of wax all over my house

When you find it.. would ya tell me! I am trying to find a more natural that paraffin wax as well. Although I am a newbie to candlemaking. I know what you mean by having 1/2 full jars all over the place!:shocked2:

  5. I'm pretty new to soaping and since I didn't know any better this is what I did last week when I finally made my first batch of gm soap. I mixed the gm powder (I think I used 4 tbsp in a batch with 5# of oils) into my oils. I then added my lye/water and procedded from there. I think it worked OK, of course I won't know for sure for a few weeks (or maybe a week before I can't stand it any longer and try a bar) but so far so good.

If it doesn't zap, try it now! Only thing is, the longer you let it cure, the harder and more mild it gets.

I try mine right after I unmold! It melts alot faster and you can't get a "true" feel of the soap, but it gives you and idea and it can only get better with age.

  6. Do I just add it to the water before I add the lye?

You can reconstitute it and use it for your liquid. It's easiest to freeze in ice cubes. When you go to add the lye to it, make sure the container with the frozen GM, is in a COLD water/ICE CUBE bath.

Do I mix it in with my oils?

You can add up to 1TB per pound of oils. Stickblend in really well before you add your lye water.

Does it affect the hardness of the bar, or the amount of lye I need to use for ther recipe?

Depending on what you use to superfat (amount of lye) drop it by 1%.

Say you are using 5%.. drop it to 4% and use that amount of lye.

Would it be better to use liquid goat milk?

That is entirely up to you. But it's best to freeze it first and don't let it get too hot.. smells like cat pi$$... you will KNOW if it is too hot!

How much should I use for a 2 lb. batch?

    See above.

    How's that for some help?:smiley2:

  7. FBB ingredients:

Glycerin, Distilled Water, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate.

  8. Ah ha! So that's the reason to poke relief holes! :yay: Thanks you 2.

I even poured that sucker slowly, hoping to NOT get them!

How many am i supposed to poke?

I know these may sound like stupid questions and i know that wick isn't centered either, but I'm still learning!

It's an air bubble. I don't poke relief holes while the jar is setting up, because you can't insure you get all the trapped air! I wait till it is totally set up, then poke relief holes and heat gun it. I'd rather take a few extra minutes to ensure there are no caverns lurking, then chance someone get a candle that just doesn't measure up! :cool2:
